Why would my hips be twisted,?

I have recently had a bit of pain in my right hip. Not alot and its mild but enough for me to be concerned. I have booked a physio appt but that's not till 2 weeks away.

The other day when getting dressed I was looking down at my hip area and noticed that when I stand straight with my feet together, the right side is pushed forward so basically my hips are twisted.

Has anything like this happened before to anyone else and what was the cause. I'll get some answers at my appt but want to know.

Very easily especially if you are female and have given birth! I see a chiropractor on a regular basis and my pelvis has a natural tendency to twist and tilt although it is exacerbated by appalling sitting positions! My chiro says she wishes women could be given a treatment within the first few days after giving birth as it would save a lot of back pain further down the line especially if its been a traumatic delivery!

easily done if you've carried your babies/ toddlers only on one side. My chiropractor noticed immediately even though my children are in their 20's now

Mine does this from time to time as I'm hypermobile. Physio helps enormously, although if I have the money at the time, my osteopath gets it back in situ quickly. Currently working on strengthening the muscles in that area to prevent it happening too often.

Scarcely anyone has a symmetrical body, must keep our have one shoulder slightly higher than the other/ stand with more weight on one leg, favour one arm for carrying the heavy bag. Etc
Sometimes a slight injury or weakness in one set of muscles will alter you posture or the way you walk.
A physio will help work out what's going on and give you exercises to correct it

Have you had children and did you have SPD/PGP during pregnancy? I did and a pilates instructor told me my hips were out of alignment and recommended a women's physio. The physio massaged my back and physically manipulated my hips and they went back into place. I still get sciatica occasionally if I let my core strength slip even now, and DS is 8.

I get it too. I see a chiropractor and she notices it straight away. I constantly sit with my legs crossed which she says I shouldn’t do.

You sound like you have Pelvic Girdle Pain. There is a UK charity called Pelvic Partnership that will tell you everything you need to know if you google it and call their helpline. You need manual therapy from an experienced practitioner to bring your provide into alignment. Your pelvic girdle has five joints, anyone of which can get stuck and throw the rest out.

As everyone is saying, not at all uncommon. I have hip issues and my advice is to make sure that you leave the appointment with some exercises that you can do at home. Take pen and paper to write down the names so that you can the n look them up on YouTube if necessary.

I was shown how to do exercises the first time I went to the physio, but by the time I git home I had forgotten most of them 😅! I now make sure I do them every day (5 mins) and they make a lot of difference.

Pretty common. I don't have children yet and this happens to me - just muscle tightness can cause this. A physio will work wonders and identify why it's happened, give you exercises to correct it.
