Help me plan a day in Disneyland Paris- just me and DH

AngeloMysterioso · 01/04/2023 22:01

DH and I are in Paris for the weekend and to celebrate having some rare child free time, we are spending the day surrounded by other people’s children Grin

We’ve never been before and it’s just occurred to me that we have no plan of action whatsoever.

Help! I need recommendations, where to eat, which rides and attractions are unmissable, which shops have the best souvenirs, pro tips, the lot!

Are you big Disney fans?
I can’t imagine having children and going to Disneyland…without them?!
Very odd choice

stiffstink · 01/04/2023 22:20

You want tips for the best souvenirs to take home for your kids from the Disneyland you went to without them?!

I might go to soft play without my kids tomorrow and take pics on what they missed out on.

Aquamarine1029 · 01/04/2023 22:22

The plan should be to not go to Disney. I can't even imagine having a child free getaway and choosing to go to Disney. You'll be in PARIS. Enjoy the city as adults without kids.

Just don’t. If Paris itself isn’t enough (it Is) then go to Versailles. DLP is the pits.

Lwg87 · 01/04/2023 22:30

Disney without kids will be great! Spiderman WEB is great. Watch the shows - the lion king in particular. We took our kids at Xmas and had a great time but we would have had a great time as a couple too. My parents have been to Disney as an older couple and had a great time too and they don't even like rides really.

FinallyHere · 01/04/2023 22:33

Cancel DLP

Pick a lovely meal instead. Enjoy

If you like Disney and you like rides then you’ll have fun.
Tips- there is an app, download it. It tells
you about queue times, ride closures, parade timeshare. You can see about shows and see about restaurants.
Some eateries need to be Pre-booked and availability may not be good depending on how soon you go.
Food is expensive but can be a big part of why some people go. Lots of themed stuff and special snacks. You can carry on your own food and drinks if you wish to save money.
Some of the shows are excellent- lion king, mickey and stitch particularly good.
Queues can be long depending on when you go. We were in 1hr+ queues in august for big rides.
If you like rollercoasters then hyperspace mountain, big thunder mountain are the big ones. Crushes coaster and flight force in the studios.
Personally, with just one day and no kids I’d choose a few rides that I really wanted, pick a parade and a show and then just enjoy the rest of the time wandering and enjoying what I could fit it.
Oh, and wear your most comfortable shoes!!!

OrigamiOwls · 01/04/2023 22:39

DH and I have been to DLP as an adult couple and really enjoyed it.
WEB Slingers and Ratatouille both have single tier lines which cut down the queues massively (on Ratatouille we found we'd often be riding in the same vehicle, just one in front of the other).
If you're going for one day I wouldn't really bother with a sit down meal (the only one I'd revisit is Walt's - but that isn't often open).

Ireallydohope · 01/04/2023 22:47

It stays open late

There are no queues later on so you can go on your favourite rides or those you really want to go on

Definitely go on

It's a small world
All the rollercoasters 🎢 except Crushes coaster (ok but not amazing)
Peter Pans flight
Ratatouille
Pirates of the Caribbean
Twilight tower of terror
Star tours and Star Wars hyperspace (roller coaster)

You will have so much fun and use the fast pass you get at certain rides to help shorten any queuing during the day

Where did I say the souvenirs would be for the DC? They are 3 and 1 and between them have zero fucks to give about anything relating to Disney- DS1 can occasionally be persuaded to watch Cars or Toy Story but that’s about it.

But I have always dreamt of going, and DH was up for it, so we’re going.

Piss off with your judgement.

Struggling to understand why 2 child free grown ups would choose to go to Disneyland rather than spend their time in Paris itself?

Are you massive Disney fans?

It's hell on earth with kids let alone without them!

WimbleOfWombledon · 01/04/2023 22:49

Ah sorry, just saw your last post where you said you'd always dreamt of going!

Iwillhavethefullenglishplease · 01/04/2023 22:53

How fab!
You'll need to make sure you book your day tickets ( I don't think you can buy on the gate anymore).
If it's just the two of you and you have the budget, I'd also consider paying for the premium fastpass. As you're going on a weekend, it's likely to be busy and the fastpass will help you get on most of the rides with minimal queuing.
The parade is worth doing and definitely stay for the evening show, I think it'll be Disney Dreams - it's amazing.

The park is beautiful, make sure you take time to soak in the atmosphere.

Ireallydohope · 01/04/2023 22:54

Go in the castle and in the dungeon underneath to see the dragon

There are lots of other things to see and experience that are not rides so no queuing required like the Alice in wonderland gardens

The buzz light year ride is fun - I class that as a sort of rollercoaster

But yes thunder mountain and the Indiana jones rollercoaster are a must

Floralnomad · 01/04/2023 22:55

Are you going to the main park or Studios or both ? Download the app to see the queue times and that will be best use of your time . Does either of you qualify for a ride access pass as that would really help

emotionalpuddle · 01/04/2023 23:00

Web slingers! Great fun! Are you into big coasters or smaller rides?? Mickey waffles, Mickey shaped pizzas are a must.. don't eat at Captain Jacks, rubbish. Loved PYM kitchens..

AngeloMysterioso · 01/04/2023 23:15

We’re just going to Disneyland, not the Studios- I looked into fast passes but the cost was double what we paid for the tickets!

OP posts:
Smartiepants79 · 01/04/2023 23:21

You pay extra for fast pass by the way!
You need to decide what you fancy for yourselves a bit.
I disagree with Pp - loved crushes coaster (longest queues though) and thought pirates overrated. Tower of terror was my idea of hell!!
Loved Buzz and ratatouille and Spider-Man. For us the car driving thing and the haunted mansion felt like a bit of a waste of time - long queues and couldn’t work out what the big deal was when we got there.
If you use Facebook there is some good advice groups - Disney land for Brits and Disney land Paris advice.

greenthumb13 · 01/04/2023 23:50

Um... don't?

easycomeasygo · 02/04/2023 00:28

Big thunder Mountain - much better than the Orlando one
Space mountain
Indiana Jones

Food is a bit rubbish so I wouldn't plan anything for that. Just use quick service

Tower of terror is a favourite but is in Studios

You can buy premier pass for individual rides which may be worth doing if super busy.

Ignore the negative posts- you'll have a great time!

DinosaurOfFire · 02/04/2023 00:44

I haven't been to DLP, but we're hoping to go later in the year so I'm just jumping on to see what people suggest. When we went to Disney in Florida, DIBB was a fab forum for info, I'm not sure if there are similar for Paris?

AngeloMysterioso · 02/04/2023 00:46

I’ve been checking out the shows and stuff- the Lion King one looks fab! But the fireworks/light shows are at 22:50 and 23:00 which seems absurdly late to me- I’ve really been looking forward to them but we’ll be bloody knackered by then.

OP posts:
Iwillhavethefullenglishplease · 02/04/2023 10:01

The lion king show is brilliant. The evening shows are really late during the summer months, but they're really, really good.
Thunder mountain is a must! And Victoria's for little sweet treats.
But other than that, for one day, I would definitely stick to the counter service food places.
You will be knackered. Wear comfortable shoes. Take a water bottle and fill up at the water fountains because the cost of bottled water is no joke.
Download the app and that will give you the ride times so you can move from ride to ride accordingly.
Have a list of things you definitely want to get done and prioritise those, everything else is a bonus.
Have a a fab time,
