4 vs 5 days work per week- benefits/drawbacks?

Currently full time, but thinking of dropping a day per week. This wouldn't change my tax % and obviously I would earn less. My entire team are part time- except me- so I'm wondering if I'm missing something obvious- other than an extra day off per week?

It's hard work. I've done it for the last couple of years since having DS and although I protect my day off (because I have no choice due to lack of childcare), I do the same about if work as I'd do in 5 days over 4.

I work 4 days and one thing I like is the flexibility to swap a day if needed for dentist etc without having to use annual leave (if allowed to do so) so protects your leave/flexi.

I work 4 days (30hrs) I have a fixed day off so I have no flexibility unfortunately. Useful still. 1 less childcare day to consider (ds at school) I can book hairdressers etc on a weekday which is great.

I don't love it. Although I look after my four year old on my non-work day, so it's not like I have an extra day off - in fact it's harder work than working.

I find that my workload is exactly the same as if I worked five days (work is always busy and everyone does a bit of overtime to keep up anyway), and I struggle to keep up because I have a huge amount of emails to get through on my first day back.

Thanks everyone, some really good points. I don't have kids and the day off would be flexible- so I could choose each week which day I want off. I'm just so sick of not having a day off during the week for appointments or for things which are quieter during the week. I need to weigh this up a bit more- thank you.
