Carpet beetles

Saw what I thought was a brown and white speckled ladybird last night. Smaller though. Picked it up and threw it outside. Later saw a second and released.

This morning I saw a third on the stairs wall and then a fourth on the carpet in my spare room. It was easy to see as I have cream carpets.

I googled the bug to see why I had so many and discovered carpet beetles!!

I have been around with a fine tooth comb and can’t see any more yet. I can’t see obvious signs of damage and I can’t see any larvae.

But what do I do? I’ve sent DH out to get a spray and meanwhile have pulled everything away from the walls to vacuum thoroughly with the pipe. My house is spotless! Why have I got these things?

I have a collection that is worth thousands that potentially could be damaged by these mini beasts, so I need to get rid of them fast.

Any tips?

Did you sort this as we have just got them and deep cleaned and hoovered everything but still seeing the larvae etc

I've also seen a few this week, what spray are you using please.
I've hoovered and steam cleaned as much as I can but there's still the odd one popping up.

I seem to have a few in my house and had never seen them in previous houses. I occasionally see them half way up a wall and get rid. I only have carpets upstairs.
My house is semi rural and I have trees and mature gardens at the back of my house and I wonder if this doesn’t help.
They can fly in an open window and I’ve seen one or two on my sheets on the washing line so always shake your washing before bringing it in.

I managed to eradicate clothes/carpet moths by removing a wool carpet from my bedroom, only for them to re-appear a year later in the lounge, where the carpet is synthetic. I've hoovered, dusted and sprayed, but can't get rid. I have an open fireplace, so wondering if they were coming down the chimney.

I've been told the only solution is pest control in to spray, but not keen on the chemicals being sprayed on everything.

@Frances0911

Do clothes moths have any interest in synthetic carpet? Surely they can't eat it?

We have just been told by a friend the only way is to get pest control in as they get everywhere but we have a toddler so I'm not keen on chemicals either.
We have used ready steady defend spray from Amazon.
I spoke to pest control yesterday who said one or two aren't a problem, they wouldn't treat for that and recommended hovering thoroughly but we have already done that and literally took our bedroom apart a few weeks ago, checked everything and didn't see any..only to see another larvae on window sill this morning. So again washing all bedding and curtains and hovering everywhere. They seem impossible to get rid of completely.
Our friends have seen one or two and aren't bothered but I'm really freaked out by it although I know they are harmless.
