The little things you love about being a parent

For me it's:

Getting into bed and finding assorted items - tonight's was a dummy and a small toy cow.

The cuteness of tiny clothes hanging up all over the house.

How excited and proud they get when they get new shoes! Even my smallest DC who is only 1 loves showing off new shoes.

When they read a new big word and you're like wow how did you know what that said?!

The very rare occasion when they're walking into school and they look back for me and give a little wave 🥹

Having someone who tells me they love me to the moon and back.

Having a child who made up the settee and made us toast and made me a coffee for breakfast for mother's Day. She's 9.

My child is 9 but my favourite is when she says some words wrong. It doesn't happen too often but I confess I find it so cute that I don't correct her. 🤭

Watching my 5yr old dance and wondering where she gets her moves from

and watching her make friends at the soft play

for the baby it’s watching her little facial expressions and wondering how different to her sister she will be - and holding her tiny little bum in one hand when she’s being burped or having contact nap on me 🥰🤣

My DS is 18 now, but those first few months of bringing home a word tin, and then reading book, were absolutely mind-blowing for me. I couldn't believe how quickly he was picking it up.

Also being told 'Mummy, I lub yooo' so matter of factly, so many times a day.

I love how they’re their own little people, with opinions and views and feelings and I made them.

I love when toddler DD says “mummy, I just need to get….”

and I truly love the crap artwork I get given from nursery, it’s really lovely

I love when we're all piled in bed with dh having cuddles in a morning. I spent so long feeling alone and now there's a whole bed squashed full with love.

The feeling of a pudgy little hand in mine.

Their perfect innocent faces when they sleep.

When they surprise me by outsmarting me and I think, ‘you’re going to be absolutely fine’.

When I see all the love, patience, and empathy I’ve poured into them reflected in the way they are learning to treat others.

Seeing the world through their eyes. Everything is new and exciting.

My big 17yo telling his little sister that she has to snap him every day she's away on her school ski trip. 😍

Love hearing my young adult DCs laughing together.

I love this thread so much. My 2 year old has started cocking his head and inflecting the end of sentences upwards when he's offering me something and it's just the sweetest thing - 'Want tea mummy?' just warms my heart.

He also comes up with hilarious shopping lists when we're going to the shop - when I asked him yesterday what we needed, it was wiggly worms, a snake, roasted fox, milk and SWEETIES.

I'm so in love.

Oh this made me well up! I'm so glad you have a loving family and don't feel alone anymore.
