London, Easter Bank Holiday. Should I stay or should I go?

I’m supposed to be coming up to London Thursday to Monday. Booked tickets for an event but so far that’s the only thing I’m out (going into the sunken costs thing a bit here)

As it transpires, Euston is closed Friday to Monday Northbound to Watford, so my original plan of getting the train in has now gone by the wayside and I need to drive down to my DD in Milton Keynes who will drop me at Stanmoreon on the Thursday.

it now transpires she can’t collect me from there on the Monday because it looks like a lot of the lines are undergoing work that weekend and Stanmore is inaccessible so now we’re looking at Edgeware.

Im getting to the point where I’m wondering whether to just sack it altogether. Hotel is fully cancellable so only ticket costs down. I was staying in Tower Bridge but genuinely concerned at how difficult closures are going to make it to go back and forth to the Excel on the DLR and explore London in general.

Londoners, in practice how much chaos do these closures cause and do you avoid over the Easter bank holiday because of them?

There is masses of public transport in London so I wouldn’t cancel personally, what else are you gonna do? How much do you want to see this show thing?

Honestly? I could miss the show. Neither DH and I are bothered at this stage really.
It's something we've been to before that was great so we bought the tickets, unfortunately the details are never released until after the tickets are sold and it's a lot different this time to what it has been in the past.

In terms of what else to do, I don't know really. We've visited a few times and done the usual museums etc. Maybe a walk into Camden. Shopping perhaps. No firm plans.

If the event is Star Wars Celebration which I'm guessing (as it's Thurs-Mon) then I say GO!! It will be amazing!

I went in 2016. I paid £80 to meet Carrie and get her auto. This year the prices are so astronomical they are unaffordable. Same for photo ops, They even want £10 to email a JPG of their extremely over priced photo shoots. Panels are now a lottery, and I haven't won any of those. The official merchandise store is also a queue lottery or a very long line (didn't win that either).

It feels like a complete rip off to what it's been in the past and neither DH or I are really getting excited over what is going to be a very over priced event designed to rinse fans.

Billy Dee Williams is £259 an autograph. Some of the prices for guests are more than they were charging at conventions earlier this year. The little girl who plays Leia in Obi Wan for example was £35 ish at a general con in December, slap on the Star Wars Event name and she's now £85.

We stupidly thought this would be as affordable and enjoyable as past ones, and unfortunately guests and prices are not announced beforehand. With all that, and our travel disruption too, I really don't know if I can be arsed because I and a lot of fans feel it really isn't the way sadly.
