I thought I'd seen my dream job..

Maybe it is and I'm just getting cold feet.

I currently have a senior management role that covers 6 aspects of the business. 2 of which I find very stressful and one I find dull. Let's call them 1, 2 & 3

I'd seen a job advertised which I have now been offered. There is no 1 or 2 to do and 3 is a much smaller part of this role.

4,5 & 6 remain but the team I'll be leading is much smaller. There's a new element 7 which is outside my comfort zone, but im sure I can do it. "My" team is mostly in the office the rest of the business wfm.

The money's much better, the commute longer and the hours shorter.

I have a horrible feeling I'm going to be bored. Mostly the lack of people and oddly the job without the stress of 1&2 feels like it may be quite dull.

I didn't realise when I applied that I'd have little day to day contact with the rest of the business iyswim.

I don't hate my current job, just fancied a change and the hours and pay were good. Wwyd?

So it cuts out the boring and/or stressful parts and leaves you with the bits you enjoy? For more money and fewer hours?

I think I’d jump at it to be honest but then I don’t really like my job! You’ll have element 7 to challenge you in the beginning, plus getting your feet under the table - could you then look to introduce ways of getting more contact with the rest of the business or is it an absolute no go do you think?

I’d take it. I sometimes find myself kidding myself that x specific aspect will be boring when actually the issue is that I’ve got slightly cold feet about the change as a whole and it’s impact on my life

I'd take it. Your pros far outweigh the cons. Give it a go. if you hate it, get back to the job search.

Take it. Give it six months, and if you haven't settled, start thinking about leaving at a year. We should change jobs regularly anyway, as it is the best way to get a pay rise.
