Hi! How much do you think a smaller version of this salad, for 4 people, would be worth? How much would you pay?

Thank you

North London where I am a salad box with a mix is usually £8 ish. £12-15 if it has salmon etc

I have never ordered a salad for 4 so no idea

tillyoumakeit · 30/03/2023 15:55

It looks like a lot of tinned vegetables in there - not much fresh other than the lettuce, toms and cucumber. I don't know if I'd be happy to have paid anything for it, but in reality I would say at least £12-15 for a 4-person 'side' dish.

Eddielizzard · 30/03/2023 15:56

I wouldn't buy that. It looks very unappetising, and some of those veg look frozen. But if it were done nicely, £12 - £15. If it were done really well, up to £20.

Salad as a side dish?

For 4 people, I would say around £15 to £20

Are those canned mushrooms? What are the white things sprinkled over it and are those other things crab sticks. What are the purple stuff..

Is the salad for four people a side salad or a main dish?

I would like to know why you've got cooked roast dinner elements (roast carrots, broccoli, potatoes, mushrooms and green beans) alongside more traditional salad elements (cold pasta and beetroot). It's confusing.

I was just thinking that it looked like my leftovers from roast dinner on a bit of lettuce!

Theraffarian · 30/03/2023 16:08

Don’t honestly think I could put a price on a collection of random hot/cold? vegetables like that . It doesn’t look like the sort of salad you could box up together .

I bought a huge tossed salad for lunch today. Leaves, salad bits, chicken, half an avo, eggs. 'Artisan'dressing. It was $22NZ so £10

I wouldnt have paid that for that melange. Tinned mushrooms? Crab sticks?!

EspeciallyDedicated · 30/03/2023 16:09

I wouldn't pay for it at all arranged like that, I'd want it all in separate dishes, then about £6 per head.

The crab sticks are a bit weird, granted; and yes the cold cooked carrots and green beans remind me of Boxing Day at my parents’ house where my mum basically serves up everything that didn’t get eaten at Christmas dinner, except with lettuce and salad cream. But I think the general broad selection is good - and caterers generally learn what works and what doesn’t as they go. I thought it actually looked quite appealingly presented!
