I know she’s trying to get a reaction & I shouldn’t give her one but I just bit & got into yet another shouting match. We haven’t brought her up to swear but she seems to be doing it more & more & reckons family members do it too ( which is highly unlikely). Also reckons she’ll do it when she’s working as a mental health practitioner & nobody will mind! Incidentally she’s neurodivergent & can argue for Britain!

Unacceptable behaviour needs consequences. What are her's?

Of course she won't swear at work when she's an adult, she's just winding you up. I would tell her that if she swears when she is talking to you that you will not engage with her and just ignore her.

Anyone else?

Well my ASD DS teen swears, but then so do I. So I'm not that bothered.

However if you don't like it then you need to explain why not and ask her to consider another way of expressing herself.

Fwiw, he doesn't do it at school and I don't do it in professional situations.
