Does bio oil actually work???

I've got a few scars I would like to reduce the appearance of but bio oil is expensive and I'm loathe to buy it if it doesn't work. I know everyone's skin is different but generally is it effective??

Apparently it's the same formula as WD40

It's full of toxic ingredients

I used it for 3 pregnancies and have zero stretch marks. It’s pricey but actually lasts a long time and really does make skin softer.

Whether or not you get stretch marks in pregnancy or not is purely down to luck and genetics. I didn't get any stretch marks during pregnancy and I used nothing on my skin. My old stretch marks from puberty are still visible though.

What sort of scars do you have and how big are they?

If Bio Oil works at all, it'll be the massage from rubbing it in, and maybe the moisture that helps. Any other oil would have the same effect, so choose something which isn't full of nasties. Olive oil would be just as effective.

I used silicone strips on my C-section scar for a while although I wasn't really conscientious with the scar massage. The scar is quite neat and at the edges it has faded a lot and is almost invisible so maybe the silicone strips helped. I've now had another baby (VBAC this time so no new scar) and I'm probably not having any more, so I've decided to see if I can improve the appearance of the scar. I'm planning to do regular scar massage with any kind of oil (yesterday I used lavender massage oil), use the silicone strips consistently, and try to lose weight and tone up my lower abs so that the skin around the scar tightens up more.

You need silicone sheets.

I burnt my hand really badly a few years ago: thumb, index finger, palm and back of the hand - very nasty. I used natural aloe vera gel until the new skin started forming, then used Bio oil. It all healed perfectly - no scarring.
