Parking at Kew Gardens

I am looking to take the kids to Kew Gardens in the Easter holidays however remember the last time we went a few years ago not being able to get parked as car park was full and having to park in the retail park and only being able to stay a couple of hours.

Trying to be prepared. Where is good to park? I can't get public transport as it's a bit awkward from us and would involved 3 changes between buses and trains and with 4 kids alone I would be a bit stressed.

That is what it's like... when we've been we usually try to arrive early. Also the road around kew Green you can park on one side (now metered). Or the residential streets around but it is a busy place and most houses don't have driveways. Best thing is to arrive as early as you can - no magic (or if there is I'd love to hear it!)

You could park in one of the large car parks in Richmond and get the bus down the road to the entrance to Kew Gardens. Either that or arrive really early. Also if you’re thinking of parking in the nearby roads, be aware that the London ULEZ boundary is pretty close to Kew, and you could easily drift into it without realising - check maps! https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ultra-low-emission-zone/ulez-where-and-when#on-this-page-3

Just Park is what we use when trying to park in this area.

We used to park in one of the roads near lion gate. Google Street view shows residents parking Mon to Friday 10 to 12.

So weekend or alter midday are free.

You could park somewhere a way from the gardens and just take one bus or the train perhaps?

I'd park in the Old Deer Park car park (pay and display) and walk from there - it's just under a mile to the Lion Gate from there, so not too far.

We did this but hopped on the train at Richmond and it was one stop on I think. The walk from Kew station was very easy - 5 to 10 minutes.

If you want a free slot in the children's garden (with the sand, slides and climbing frames etc) you need to book in advance - sometimes a week or two in advance of weekend especially - Just letting you know to avoid disappointment if that was something you wanted to do.

If you get there early enough there should be parking at Brentford Gate car park round the back. (but it's not cheap!)

A pp mentioned Just Park. I think this is the scheme whereby you pay to park for the day in a local resident’s driveway. If I’m wrong I apologise.

Park at The National Archives. Ten minutes walk to Elizabeth Gate. It's not free, but you'll definitely get a space.
