DH and I went out for breakfast yesterday, haven’t done this for a long time. We went to a really nice independent place that’s open as a licensed restaurant in the evening and had a fry up , I had small and he had large plus a latte each that had a finger of shortbread on the side.

1 bacon and sausage plus beans, tomatoes, 1 egg, black pudding, mushrooms and a slice of granary toast. His had an additional sausage and slice of bacon.

It was 19.95

We are in East Midlands and the last time we went out for a fry up was about two years ago, the cafe we used to go to shut down unfortunately during lockdown, it was around £12 then and was a nice but very basic cafe.

We paid £8.95 yesterday not including drinks and that seems about average for the area. It's gone up about £2 in the last 12-18 months.

We have a couple of 'greasy spoon' cafes and they're about £6, including drinks and the food's usually nicer, hotter and more of it than the posher places with their artisan bread and chai lattes. And the tea comes by the pot.

Anywhere from about £7 to £10 each seems about right to me, depending on where you are.

That's really cheap

Guess what , inflation is running at 10% !

That applies to this sort of thing as well you know

Sounds reasonable to me.
Where I work, we do a breakfast which is bloody enormous. It’s served on a big, oval steak plate and comes with 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 fried eggs, mushrooms, grilled tomato, beans, hashbrowns and toast or fried bread for £9.
I’d be surprised to find many places under £20 for 2 full breakfasts and 2 drinks these days.

I went to Wetherspoons 2 cooked breakfasts with slice of toast each and drinks £14, that is very cheap and south east

I love a spoons breakfast, great value. Farmhouse Inn's are the same.
