Egg hunt or treats that are not chocolate for 3.5yr old

Last year there was far too many eggs and various other chocolate stuff. My mum had organised a egg hunt in their garden and we did one on the house. So as you can imagine we had a tonne of chocolate.

I'm wanting to avoid that but still make it fun.
So what do you do for your little ones?

I'm also kind of wanting to avoid buying tat but I would be up for buying things that could be used every year or would get a lot of use rather than filling a plastic egg for the sake of it.

I need to get organised!

Rubber duck "chicks"

Let them have the chocolate and maybe ration or share it. It's once a year, it won't hurt and they do love it.

We sometimes used to put coins in the plastic eggs instead of choc eggs

You could do a clue easter egg hunt having him run around all over the house and garden(fun and it takes longer) and the prize at the end can be a chocolate egg, as he'd only get one from that activity.

I’ve bought little refillable plastic eggs and little eggs that fit in those to reduce the amount of chocolate and little chicks to go in them which I then imagine will get a lot of pretend play but if not will be saved for next year.

Oh that's a good idea!

@crossstitchingnana oh don't worry he does get plenty. I'm not one to be stingy on it but last year was absolutely ridiculous and actually he was ok with it. He does stop he wouldn't forget but I do! Lol

Also may get some jelly type Easter sweets as I think he prefers haribo style stuff to chocolate sometimes. If anyone knows of any good ones let me know :)

Mine used to hunt for the empty eggs. When they found all of their colour, they got the prize (a book and collectible thing they liked)

Hard-boil eggs and soak in hell food colouring. I even spray painted on gold.

I have shrink on decorative labels for this year.

This year I have bought these egg shaped bath bombs. DD (5) loves bath bombs, this brand has always been good as they change the colour of the water and have never irritated her skin.

My dc were into Peter rabbit at that age. I bought a set of figures, did some simple clues and they hunted for the figures. They also got a Cadbury egg with Peter soft toy

When my first was little I did grapes wrapped in tin foil

M&S sometimes have Percy pig and "Easter/Christmas" friends or Harribo's, they do jelly chicks like jelly babies too
