Lock options for composite door

I've recently moved into a house with composite front and back doors that you lock from the inside and outside with a key.
My previous houses have all had yale locks and deadbolts so this setup is new to me and it feels like such a faff having to get the key to unlock the door every time I want to nip outside. Also not great from a fire safety perspective as it takes longer and obviously there's the potential to not be able to find the key.

I was going to switch the lock barrels to ones that just have knob you twist on the inside and lock with a key from the outside but apparently these aren't insurance approved.
I don't want to leave the door unlocked when I'm at home.
Am I missing a solution here? I feel like I'm being really stupid!

I just leave the key in the lock during the day.

You could always buy those sash jammers for upvc but I'm not convinced by them

We have a composite door, it's an Endurance door and we have a knob that turns on the inside. It can be deadlocked.

We used to just leave the key in the door when we had locks like this.

For overnight you need to leave it somewhere accessible but not visible.

We had a composite barn door installed a few months ago - the top can be open with the bottom shut. When it's unlocked, it can be opened from inside, or out, using the handle.

If you leave the key in the lock surely that means that the door can’t be unlocked from the outside if someone else comes home? Or if someone else wants to leave and lock the door behind them?

If you leave the key in the ‘6 o’clock’ position, the person wishing to unlock can insert their key and push out the existing key, and then unlock the door as normal.

if you leave the key inside the lock barrel in any other position, then the key cannot be pushed out.

Everyone has their own key, so if someone wants to leave - they just lock the door from the outside. Anyone left inside has their own key and can unlock the door from the inside to leave. Keys can be left inside on a hook or in a bowl near to the door but out of reach of anyone attempting to fish for keys through letter boxes or open windows.

The thing you need is called a pad handle. With one of these, the door can be unlocked and not openable from the outside without a key, but opened with just the handle from inside the house. When you go out, you lock it further with the key from the outside. You should be able to get these retrofitted to your doors.

Thanks, never heard of these but sounds exactly like what I’m after!
