Bored of covid AGAIN

Akite · 21/03/2023 20:28

On my third dose of sodding covid, feeling as if my head is stuffed with cotton wool and everything is too much hassle.

dont have the attention span to watch tv so I've been watching endless clips of Say yes to the dress. (Gok by far the best on that)
what could I watch that requires no effort and doesn't matter if I nap halfway though?!

I like reality TV when in this mood, so something like Sort Your Life Out or Your House Made Perfect.

carriedout · 21/03/2023 20:30

Get well soon btw Flowers

Akite · 21/03/2023 20:36

Ooh sort your life out is a good idea, makes me want to declutter. I think I've already seen all the your house made perfect ones. I'm always amazed how cheap their building work seems to be compared to any building work we've ever had done.

I don't know how they expect anyone to afford to be off sick so often, then deal with the disabling consequences of repeated infections.
It's criminal that we haven't had air filtration systems installed in places and that mask wearing has been so politicised so people don't know how to at least try to protect themselves.
Hope you feel better soon. As for programmes, any old favourites usually do until I'm well enough for more mental stimulation.

So stop testing and just carry on as normal when you have a snuffle!

Gee thanks for that wisdom.
I don't have a snuffle, I've been in bed unable to get up since Friday. Last time I had covid it took me 6 months to get back to a normal level of health. If it hasn't affected you very much, that's great, but it affects people differently and as my FIL has cancer, we will continue to test to ensure we are safe to visit him (and the test I took at the weekend meant that DH didn't visit for Mother's Day)

Feel betterer. Flowers

Married at first sight Australia on channel 4 catch up. Enough to keep you going but ultimately you don’t care so you’re good to sleep… Perfect! Got me through tonsillitis ten days ago 😂 hope you feel better soon op.

Perihelion · 21/03/2023 21:25

Feel for you. DD and I had Covid in February. 3rd time for me and 4th time in a year for DD. Her health is wrecked. Only about 75% attendance at school.

JimJammies · 21/03/2023 21:28

The one where they go to each others' house for dinner, First Dates, Dog House, Dragon's Den.

HannahDefoesTrenchcoat · 21/03/2023 21:42

Sympathies OP. I’ve tested positive today after feeling tired for 2 days, then developing a headache, then sore throat, then spent last night with temperature, cough and flu symptoms.
I may have had sniffles before but this isn’t sniffles.
it’s the first time I’ve tested positive although I think I had it early on.

I just enjoyed Dogs behaving (very) badly.

I hope you feel better soon OP

Northernsoullover · 21/03/2023 21:45

I've just tested positive. I'm so pissed off. I don't feel too unwell thankfully but I won't visiting my elderly parents who really had the stuffing knocked out of them when they had covid. That's why I tested.

BCBird · 21/03/2023 21:46

I hope you feel better soon.i wish people were still.wearing masks. It's a small inconvenience really. How about Dinner ladies on BBC iplayer? It's a bit dated but still funny. Or Still Game in BBC iplayer?

mummytothree87 · 21/03/2023 21:49

I've just tested positive for the 4th time and I feel like this time round I've been hit by a bus after breezing through the last 3 times. Currently shivering but sweating in bed whilst trying to look after kids as DP is away with work. I've only just got over 2 bouts of tonsillitis in a month too. So fed up of all this now and the effect its had on my overall health 😭

It's not if you have to wear them for 12hours a day actually.

Having flu for a few days is less of an inconvenience.

premicrois · 21/03/2023 21:53

It may have been a small inconvenience to you but to many people for many reasons it was so much more.

I am autistic and rely on lip reading to help my processing and understanding when I'm interacting with anyone outside. People wearing masks because a huge barrier to communication.

Akite · 21/03/2023 21:59

Sympathies to the other posters who also have it as well. It is the cumulative effect of repeated infections which knock me out for months at a time that worries me.

My in-laws have worn masks the whole way through, FIL has the full load of booster jabs and they've still had it twice as well.
I'll check out these suggestions tomorrow, thanks for all of them.

On day 9 myself, I can thoroughly recommend Call the Midwife as being very relaxing to nap through...and makes me glad I don't have dysentry, polio or twins!
Get well soon...

DinosApple · 21/03/2023 22:23

My Family is on iPlayer until the end of the month.
DH and I have been really enjoying it. First time around I was more the daughter's age, now all my sympathies are with the parents!

Elphame · 21/03/2023 22:23

Commiserations OP

I went down with the damn thing myself on Friday. Today is the first day that I've been able to get out of bed and the brain is still completely off line.

I was much more affected this time than I was first time around.

Fluffodils · 21/03/2023 22:55

Homes under the hammer

Akite · 23/03/2023 20:37

I tell you what, I've found a great thing to cheer me up, the second episode of I Literally Just Told You has had me in absolute tears laughing today. Shame I then wheeze for ages afterwards!

Just wondering what people are doing work wise when they test positive? At my work (school), unless we are very physically unwell we still have to go in and when a member of staff was off very recently with it, it was really obviously frowned upon!

Akite · 26/03/2023 13:04

I work in a school (not teaching) but was so unwell I couldn't even get out of bed so would have been off anyway whatever it was.

Surely people can't afford to be off work every few months? I know I can't! There has to be a better solution than just accepting it without any precautions.
