What is going on with my stomach? SO scared!

I've felt like horrendous for weeks now (after having Covid at the end of January). I have had really disrupted sleep, incredibly vivid dreams every.single.night and I am completely exhausted all day.

These past two weeks my stomach has been acting up a lot. I am burping non-stop and have heartburn multiple times a day, even if I haven't eaten. It feels like food gets stuck more than it used to and I have to chew a lot more to make swallowing easier. Nothing I eat or don't eat seems to make a difference and I idiotically googled and I have convinced myself I have stomach cancer Sad. I know it is very unlikely to be that but I am not someone who has ever had stomach issues before. The GP has said over the phone to take indigestion meds for a week or two and see what happens but I am really starting to worry something isn't right. I have just slept for three hours in the middle of the day and still can't keep my eyes open. I am 34 and feel like I am wasting away!

I have been under huge amounts of stress since around last October so I know it is probably just that but with the way the NHS is (and my GP) I am really worried I wouldn't get diagnosed in time if it was something serious - which I am becoming increasingly convinced it is.

Some ideas on how to feel better/reassurance would be really appreciated. Going out of my mind with worry about it.

Was sent by out of hours. I really doubt I'll need surgery I think it's more to check for infection they've taken blood etc.

I read your first post and went 'gall bladder & gall stones', then read on and found you're in hospital for possibly this! My symptoms were pretty much identical when mine was packing up. I hope you get sorted quickly and they work out what's causing the pain - push for a MRI if they think you've got gallstones in the wrong place as they couldn't see mine clearly on ultrasound. Hope you feel better soon.

They wouldn't operate would they? Surely they don't just whip it out without a scan etc? Not 100% sure why I've been sent here.

With mine, they did the scans, found the gallstones and did a procedure to take them out of my bile duct. Then they decided that as I was already in, they'd take the gall bladder a couple of days later. It was really stressful as it was all really sudden, so get how your feeling.

Any update OP?

SaunteringDownwards · 28/03/2023 18:55

They were going to discharge me last night, but I ended up feeling much worse and practically begging them to help me with the pain so I was admitted. They've done an ultrasound this morning at ten but no Dr has been in to see me since with the results despite telling the nurses ive thrown up black liquid three times today. Still no idea if I can go home tonight or not. But it isn't my pancreas and blood test was clear which is a big relief. Just very sad and fed up and would very much like to go home! Doesn't look like I'm going to get any answers.

How are you now? Hope you managed to get some rest overnight.

SaunteringDownwards · 29/03/2023 10:57

Thanks for checking in. I'm being discharged today with an outpatient appointment for an endoscopy. I'm guessing an ultrasound would have found anything particularly sinister like a tumor so I think it's probably a bad bout of gastritis/inflammation. Thr dr said the black sick is most likely being caused from a bit of bleeding at the inflamed bit.

Sorry you're not much further forward OP but at least the really scary stuff is ruled out Flowers

How are you feeling now op? ♥️

RebeccaCloud9 · 24/04/2023 07:01

I read this thinking it sounds exactly like gallstones. Whatever it is, hoping you have it sorted now, how are you feeling? My friend was having tests for ages before they finally found her gallstones with an endoscopy.

If you start to go yellow, see a Dr straight away. This was my symptom telling me I had pancreatitis caused by the gallstones.
