Hi I'm looking for some help or reassurance.
When I check my breasts I tend to prod at the areas I'm checking and I think I read this is not way to do it as this can 'create' lumps.
I don't think I'm doing this right, am I?
If so why not?
Please don't be harsh, I know I'm perhaps being stupid but I'm terribly anxious about it. I DID discover a lump last year (which went thank goodness) but know I'm checking constantly. It's set off a terrible worry.
Any input appreciated.
What's the correct way and why is it correct way.
I mean why is it wrong to prod. I need someone to explain it to me who has some expertise.

Reread my opening post. I'm sorry if it sounds a bit frantic.

I think you're supposed to use the palm of your hand aren't you? Tbh not too sure I never really check my breasts 😬

I hold my hand flat on the skin and roll it over breasts , collar bone area and underarms .

The brilliant Dr Liz O’Riordan, who is a breast surgeon, did this fantastic video recently about how to check your breasts:

I don't know about "creating" lumps but my GP showed me how to do it with the palms of the hand because you can more easily feel lumps and if they are mobile / hard etc.
And not mistake breastbone for lumps. Which is what I did! And easier than you think to mistake if you are particularly bony and prominent.
