Generous fit children brands

Hi everyone, I've been looking for a while now for a generous fit brand for my daughter. I've only found boys clothing online.

If anyone has any info that would be great, when I google it just comes up with all the sponsored brands and no actual results for my search.

Thank you in advance.

How old is she?

SNWannabe · 20/03/2023 14:58

😔 have you contacted the child healthy weight team locally for support in addressing your daughters health issues? I believe Asda and next both have plus ranges for children but it’s tragic these are necessary to be honest.

H&M come up big if that’s what you mean?

How old is she?

She's 6 and happily wearing 9-11 as she very tall for her age.

M and s do plus size, tall range and skinny fit in uniform so they may do other options.

She's perfectly healthy, just genetics from her fathers side. She's very tall for her age group and I want her to be comfortable. Asda and Next both don't make them any more.

Asda do school uniform in plus, tall etc
I'm not too sure about their normal clothes but their kids tracksuit/outfits do fit quite big 😊

If it’s just that she’s very tall for her age, can’t she just carry on wearing age 9 clothes in whatever brand you/she likes?

Twizbe · 20/03/2023 15:09

I'm tall and was super tall as a child. Uniform and school shoes were a big issue.

My kids are also tall, one is tall and skinny the other is tall and in proportion.

Boys clothes do tend to be more generous. I find my DD fits her brother's hand me downs better and I don't have to size up as much.

With girls clothes, sainsburys tend to be more generous and I only have to go up 1 size. Primark is the worst (though they are good for my tall skinny one)

I haven't seen tall in sainsburys girls uniform but I do have a long length trousers for my son.

She lives in leggings and T-shirts (we do the rock chic style and she looks pretty trendy), but for her last birthday she wanted to wear a 'Pretty dress' so we went dress shopping and struggled and I could tell it really upset her as all the dresses she picked wouldn't fit around her waist and the ones that did drowned her. I want to avoid this going forward as I don't want it to have a lasting effect on her. She's just a little big more round on the waist then the high street brands accommodate for.

My children aren’t as old as yours but I find joules clothing to be quite generous. You can pick up bargains secondhand on vinted etc. might not apply to older sizes though. Stay clear of gap IME for taller children

OneMoreCookieMonster · 20/03/2023 15:16

@VivaVivaa unfortunately for my kid it doesn't work like. They are super tall but also very slim. Clothes that fit in length literally hang off or waist bands don't stay up. So sometimes if I can find sturdy sizing closer to their waist size that works because it gives some extra length. It's a real mix of clothes and sizing.

Try H&M kids, have had a lot from there. They seem to be generous in length and do sturdy sizing in jeans for sure.

Zara, DD is solidly built, top of healthy BMI and zara tops and dresses work well and I can buy clothes are the right size for her height, don’t have to size up. I sometimes buy crop leggings in a larger size from h&m so she has room to move in them for her gymnastics. M&S and H&m are also good. Dd has chunkier legs rather than tummy though.

The problem I found with DD was that as she was 99th centile for height she still had the body shape of a toddler but was I trying to fit her into clothes for older children who tend to be a bit leaner.

Totally fair, I only asked as DS (who is a bit younger) has generally been bigger all over - high percentile for weight and height and I know it can be a bit of a minefield, so if her DD was ‘happily in’ a certain size, I’d not rock the boat! Sounds like that was a bit too simplistic though. I do agree with H+M though!

Zara is our usual go too, just not with jeans! I've given up on jeans completely now.
