Just that really. I’ll start off by saying York - two lovely campuses and very close to the city so not isolated. I am biased though coz DD is there!

I don't know many, but I loved UEA from the moment I set foot there. As a PP said, the archicture is fab, although they have redone a lot of it. Then the lake and the fields around. As YES to the rabbits! Fond memories of chasing them as we made our way back to halls.

Lancaster. The college system and cameraderie is great. And the wind whipping down the spine sorts out your hangover

I second Lancaster. Son was there and it really was a special place plus the accommodation was really lovely inc the little duck family that lived outside my son’s townhouse on the campus l

Aberystwyth. You can look down from arts centre and see the sea and amazing sunsets.

York - loved my weekends visiting DD. Not just the campus but the City too and Michigan where I went - Ann Arbor is a great town

Queen’s University is beautiful.

The old part of QUB nice - but it's not a campus university. There are different parts scattered around the city.

Warwick is such a lovely green campus.

SleepyMathematician · 22/05/2023 22:46

Kent. It was a long time ago I was there but I just loved it. At the time Canterbury was so vibrant and happening compared to my sleepy home town. I really did feel as though the whole world was my oyster. Just a lovely campus too.

Oxford Brookes. DD had a wonderful three years there.

mrwalkensir · 22/05/2023 22:52

Sussex originally laid out as a sitting cat on the South Downs - accommodation has recently been built between/above the ears!

foreverbasil · 22/05/2023 22:54

Nottingham is lovely especially in the autumn and spring. No one has mentioned Essex which is far from beautiful around the squares but the lake area is really nice.

WednesdaysPlaits · 22/05/2023 22:55

Exeter, Lancaster, Aberystwyth, Nottingham (main campus only). All beautiful. You can’t escape some big ugly buildings at most older 1960s universities but the campuses themselves are stunning. The woodland and lake areas at Lancaster are very special.

I like York too being situated around the lake but they have a serious goose/duck poo problem.

but another vote for Swansea as a University overall, as it has the beach. If you are being specific about the campus and not including the beach, then it drops off the list.

As a Sussex graduate that's the first time I've heard about the cat, but I see what you mean!

How have you all been to so many campus unis?

Exeter was nice from my memory of an open day!

Well, we've not all been to all of them - we presumably are listing ones we liked.

Having gone to open days over the years, with 3 dc, and also visited God children and nieces at a couple of other universities for one reason or another, that adds up to quite a lot of universities visited.

The new Bay campus at Swansea is pretty nice.

MessyBunny · 23/05/2023 08:11

I have visited a lot, 9 I think on various open days with different DC.

WednesdaysPlaits · 23/05/2023 11:48

How have you all been to so many campus unis?

Well I visited about 6 and I have two sixth form DC who have done visits and I live in a university city with two universities plus DC do competitive sport which is often held at university sports centres. It quickly mounts up.
