Weekend on my own, what can I watch?

ditavonteesed · 18/03/2023 07:52

Dd2 and dh going to his parents for weekend and dd1 at boyfriends leaving me all alone for the weekend. I need a good box set that I can get lost in.

I will be honest I've watched so much stuff that I have little left. I normally enjoy horror and murdery things but thinking when I'm alone might not be such a good idea.

Also not happy valley or the like as I don't want depressing things.
Wondering if there is anything out there or I should just succumb to my buffy or supernatural box sets.
All ideas welcome.

Have you watched the Harlen coben series on Netflix? I really enjoyed those and they aren’t too bad for when you’re at home alone.

ditavonteesed · 18/03/2023 08:03

Ooo just looked that looks interesting, I think I watched stay close but can't remember. Will check it out, thanks.

I was going to suggest Only Murders in the Building too - it fits the murder genre with some big name actors and great storylines but alongside humour. Might be just the thing!

ditavonteesed · 18/03/2023 08:17

Is only murders in the building on Disney plus, I don't have Disney plus but might be tempted to treat myself.

Have you watched the Dahmer series on Netflix.
The Paitent on Disney is good for a binge.
The Consultant on Prime is also good.

grayhairdontcare · 18/03/2023 09:28

Yellow jackets

GardeningQuestionTime · 18/03/2023 09:31

I really enjoyed the last of us, zombies but it’s not really about the zombies

TokyoSushi · 18/03/2023 09:33

If you're looking for something interesting and quite easy watching Race Across the World starts again on Wednesday, the old seasons are on iPlayer and are brilliant.

APurpleSquirrel · 18/03/2023 09:36

If you have Netflix, The Last Kingdom is excellent! Plus the final instalment is due in April.

BibbleandSqwauk · 18/03/2023 09:36

Discovery of Witches. Witches, vampires, Matthew Goode being all broody and dark. Fab.

BibbleandSqwauk · 18/03/2023 09:36

Oh yes, Last Kingdom also.

frozendaisy · 18/03/2023 09:55

Only murders in the building is brilliant

If you want to treat yourself to apple TV
Ted Lasso, brilliant, first two series there and just started series 3, probably last and they only give us one episode a week it's modern day audio-visual torture!
And Bad Sisters

aineoverseas · 18/03/2023 09:57

Oh I just started a thread about having time to waste! I'm so bored, I need something I can binge on too.

Tinkeytonkoldfruit · 18/03/2023 10:01

As a Buffy fan you might enjoy the new series Sarah Michelle Gellar is in Wolfpack - it's on paramount but you can get a free weeks access. It's a bit cheesy but if you like supernatural fantasy stuff it's quite fun.

All that said if you haven't done Ted Lasso already then that's the show to watch on a weekend on your own. It's so incredibly heart warming and life affirming and it will give you a nice cuddle all weekend. I've literally not met anyone who didn't love it.

dottypyjamas · 18/03/2023 10:04

The whole of silent witness is on the iPlayer - the early series are SO good, and it’s quite fun to look at the 90s fashions and tech 😂

dottypyjamas · 18/03/2023 10:06

And definitely yes to a pp recommendation of Race across the World, loved both series and looking forward to the next one!

Batcountry8 · 18/03/2023 10:11

Murdaugh murders A Southern Scandal.

Real life documentary. Netflix 3 x 1 hour episodes

Sad and shocking but very well done.

pornyshroudofturin · 18/03/2023 10:13

Currently watching The Morning Show and loving it. Took a 1 week free trial of Apple TV and seeing if I can get through the whole 2 series!

Some of these go back a few years cos I'm a bit rubbish at keeping up (and there's SO MUCH TELLY when you have streaming subs). But the things I've liked a lot in the last year or two are:

Netflix
Glow
Stranger Things
Russian Doll

Apple TV
Physical
The Morning Show
Ted Lasso

Disney Plus
Wandavision (but if you haven't watched the preceding Marvel films it'll make no sense at all but I guess you could do that all weekend too 🙂)
Pam and Tommy
Pistol
Dollface

Amazon Prime
Forever
Roadies
Harlem
Daisy Jones and the Six

Sky
Big Little Lies
The Connors

Very obvious patterns here: I clearly have a thing for time travel/dimension jumping/80s set/music business/mystery/thriller/bleak comedy stuff. And Nancy Meyers film style kitchens (the real stars of Big Little Lies and The Morning Show).

burnoutbabe · 18/03/2023 10:24

I recently rewatched

Cracker (very dated!)
Sherlock
Buffy and angel
Private practice -greys anatomy spin off

Now going though
Silk (legal show uk)
You -Netflix
Last of us -sky

You is most horror is but you may like slasher which is 4 seasons of murder mystery (sane cast but different characters each season)

LlynTegid · 18/03/2023 10:27

Apparently there is a show coming back on BBC1 today, with someone called Gary Lineker presenting.

Whywaistedwyonna · 18/03/2023 10:29

Severance - Apple TV

ComeOnYouSummer · 18/03/2023 10:29

I loved Severance, that would be great to binge.
