NHS PAY

Benji1998 · 17/03/2023 16:52

The government has agreed to give NHS staff in England the boost along with a one-off pay award of more than £1,600. It covers all roles except for doctors.

I have worked for the NHS for the last 8 years in a GP Surgery but changed roles to a different place (Primary Care Network) in August last year. Would I still received the one off pay award? (I know this hasn’t been accepted yet).

Thanks

Not entirely sure but think it only applies to all AFC staff.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/03/2023 16:55

Presumably if you receive the pay award you will also get the payment?

Jojocoops89 · 17/03/2023 16:57

Random one. I’m selling on Vinted and usually use in post or EVRi. I’ve had to enable yodel for perfumes as they can’t be sent with the others. It has the option for a digital label. Can I use this label on the in post lockers?

I am on the AFC and I do get paid according to that so if the banding changes so does my salary. I just wasn’t sure if changing roles recently would affect things.

I assumed so I wasn’t sure if changing roles would make any difference :)

Isn't it for the new financial year though? 23/24, rather than current one?

I’m not sure, it says this:

Under the deal, Agenda for Change staff will receive a non-consolidated award of 2% of an individual’s salary for 2022 to 2023.

This is on top of the pay increase of at least 4% they received for 2022 to 2023 last year, as recommended by the independent pay review body process, worth at least £1,400, meaning a newly qualified nurse received a 5.5% increase and those on the lowest salaries received a pay rise of 9.3%.

In addition, they will receive a one-off ‘NHS backlog bonus’ which recognises the sustained pressure facing the NHS following the pandemic and the extraordinary effort staff have been making to hit backlog recovery targets and meet the Prime Minister’s promise to cut waiting lists.

The backlog bonus will be worth at least £1,250 per person but will be determined based on how much experience staff have and based on an individual’s pay band. The average nurse in pay band 5, for example, will receive £1,350.

For 2023 to 2024, the government is offering Agenda for Change staff a 5% consolidated increase in pay, worth at least £1,065.

As a result of this package, a newly qualified nurse will see their salary go up by more than £2,750 over 2 years from 2021 to 2022 to 2023 to 2024. On top of this they will also receive over £1,890 in one-off payments this year.

The deal will also provide a higher pay uplift for the lowest paid NHS staff, with all those in bands 1 and 2 having their pay raised to the same level.

I don't know then, you'll just have to.waot and see. Hopefully you'll still get something, but most likely it will be pro-rata.

AviMav · 17/03/2023 17:12

Following. My colleagues said it is from 2022/2023 hoping so!

Benji1998 · 17/03/2023 17:15

I hope so too. I switched jobs last year so I’m hoping that doesn’t make a difference.

OP posts:
CoffeeWithCheese · 17/03/2023 17:15

I'm hoping I'll get some of it - I started middle of the year so I'm expecting to have landed the wrong side of whatever boundary they've put in place, but I bloody well should get some of the backlog bonus since I'm currently doing 3 people's jobs trying to clear up the mess left by the covid rules!!!

FlyingFlamingo · 17/03/2023 17:18

I’m in Wales, and unexpectedly got the 1% ‘uplift’ this month, it was only worth £320 (part time top 6) after tax so I’m not exactly breaking open the champagne Hmm
I thought the RCN were still negotiating so wasn’t expecting anything yet, and it seems very unfair if in England you’ll be getting £1000+! I hope the Barnett Formula applies? It’s gone very quiet over here…

Benji1998 · 17/03/2023 17:20

I’ve been working for the NHS for 8 years but just didn’t know if me switching job roles would make any difference at all?? Hoping it doesn’t!

OP posts:
Benji1998 · 17/03/2023 17:23

I really hope you get something!

Did you switch trusts? Each trust has a different payroll so that might make a difference (not sure how a previous trust could pay you a part payment if you do t work there anymore iyswim) If you're in the same place but different jobs it would all get calculated the same I would think.

Benji1998 · 17/03/2023 17:27

I used to work for a GP Surgery then applied for a better role for the Primary Care Network, a band higher than what I used to get. I think it is going to make a difference isn’t it :/ how annoying.

OP posts:
LittleMrsPerfect · 17/03/2023 17:29

It depends if you agreed for your pay to match AFC?

My sister works for a GP surgery they matched her NHS pay at the time of the move but shes not on an AFC contract.

Itsnotfairhuff · 17/03/2023 17:30

I've just realised my salary wasn't amended in the last uplift. My tax bill is going to be huge when they apply both isn't it

Benji1998 · 17/03/2023 17:31

I am on AFC , just moved to a higher band

If you are eligible to vote on whether to accept the offer or not I sincerely hope you vote NOT to accept this insulting offer. We are worth so much more.

Benji1998 · 17/03/2023 17:46

I am not and yes I totally agree

When I checked this - it was if you were in post on a certain date (I have end of march in my head but there is a faq document online somewhere)
