I’m getting my nose pierced today!

I’m a 33 year old married mother of two living in the Home Counties and I work in the City 😂

I’ve wanted my nose pierced since forever, but there’s always been a reason it wouldn’t be acceptable - mostly because of the workplace but also I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off. But since Covid, dress codes at work have relaxed (plus, while I’m in professional services, I’m marketing, which can be a little less formal). And after having 2 kids I’m just a bit ‘well, if not now, when?’ about life 😄

Feeling rather nervous/excited/concerned I’ll look like an idiot afterwards (I can always take it out after, right?)

Tell me that I can survive the pain if I’ve gone through childbirth twice!! The last piercing I had was my ear cartilage at 17 in Claire’s Accessories when I was a bit tipsy

Also any tips for aftercare v welcome!

Outing photo but fuck it - I did it!! Definitely not as bad as I was fearing and the piercing woman was so lovely and reassuring, no wonder she’s got a waiting list :) very happy with it and trying to stop myself from taking 10000 selfies instead of working this afternoon 😁

I’m getting my nose pierced today!

It looks lovely! I had mine done a few years ago in my early 30’s and loved it until dd yanked my glasses down my face and pulled it out, it was a corkscrew fitting and I couldn’t get it back in and it healed over in 5 mins.

One thing I would recommend (this might just be me though!) a pair of tweezers with a light on them. I got, around once a week, a huge build up/bogey around the stud inside and getting lighted tweezers in there was the only way of getting it out without pushing the stud out!

Tygertiger · 17/03/2023 15:05

That looks gorgeous OP. Well done.

I’d love to have mine done but I have really visible sebaceous filaments in my nose and I think it would draw attention to them 😢

han01uk · 17/03/2023 15:11

I'm 40 and have been wanting this for ages! Looks lovely on you. How was the pain?!

Aerish · 17/03/2023 15:54

Vicliz24 · 17/03/2023 16:01

It looks great . Well done OP

StillMedusa · 17/03/2023 16:15

I had mine done 4 months ago at the grand age of 55 Grin. Middle aged rebellion..and I love it!
Mine was a corkscrew one and it was healing nicely when a month in it got whacked out of my nose at work (Special needs school) and BOY did that hurt!
Getting it back in was painful and I've had a few healing issues with it since (unsuprisingly) but it's getting there. I use Neilmed saline spray and try not to touch it otherwise. I'd like a ring eventually but not for a few months yet. Noses can take a while to fully heal (oh and I knocked it out in the night too..)

Fluffygreenslippers · 17/03/2023 16:37

It doesn’t hurt. I had mine done when I was twelve.

moggerhanger · 17/03/2023 23:06

I want to get mine done for my 50th birthday this year. This has spurred me on!

blackheartsgirl · 17/03/2023 23:12

I’m 45 and had my nose pierced last year.. got a hoop in it now and I love it. I’ve got piecing on my right ear, my seconds, tragus and a conch.

never too old!

my mum had her tragus done when she was 70. She wants her nose done now

Sugarfish · 17/03/2023 23:13

Really suits you op!

I got mine done when I was 16 with a gun. Didn’t have any problems when it got pierced but it honestly took about 4 years to heal properly!

gloriawasright · 17/03/2023 23:19

I had mine done at age 57.
I have no other piercings at all but I always wanted my nose done.
It was done with a needle not a gun.
It took me a while to stop drying my face vigorously with the towel.
there were a few eye watering moments there.
I love it,and wish I had done it years ago.
But it's never too late 😃
