Supermarket shopping IRL

This is possibly the daftest question to grace MN and I'm frankly embarrassed...

I normally get my shopping delivered but there was an issue this week so I think I need to go to the actual shop.

I have never been to the supermarket with both my kids before. Is there a trolley for a toddler and a 5 month old so not a newborn but can't sit yet...

I just don't want to get to the shop and have to fanny around trying different trollies...

Thanks

It’s not a daft question at all. It’s only 5 months since you’ve got your second child. In my area big supermarkets Asda and Tesco do have 2 seats trolleys, never used them myself as I have one child. You’d better ask local mums at playgroup to save you the trip.

Not silly. Yes ghere is but it varies from supermarket to supermarket.
I had twins and it was often difficult to get a double baby one. But often could get one baby and one toddler. Depending on baby's size and if hheyve got a padded coat on ghey may fit into the toddler seat.
Worst case scenario I used to put one of mine in car seat in trolley or sling have Toddler on reins and other twin in baby seat on trolley.

Just go prepared with reins, sling etc.

What supermarket is it? Tesco has trolleys that have a section for a baby (like a car seat with harness) and one for an older toddler (like the standard seat bit that you can put a child into with leg holes in the frame of the trolley)
Like the fourth picture along the top row on this site:

Thanks so much! It's a Sainsbury's but I might go to Tesco if they have fancier trollies. The padded suit is a good idea too! Thanks all

When my lot were little, I'd pop a baby blanket under them when they were in the baby seat part of the trolley, that way, if they lifted their heads, when it went back, it wasn't hitting off hard plastic.

BlueBlueCowWondering · 16/03/2023 17:42

Oh bless you! I remember practically sobbing when the trolleys were left out in the rain and I only had indoor clothes for my baby.
Basically the bigger the supermarket the better chance you have of a suitable trolley
But lower your expectations and be ready to bail out without all your list if one or other of your dc doesn't want to cooperate
Good luck!

Actually - Sainsbury's should have something similar. I've done a google search and this is what comes up (check out row 5, third photo in)
