Teachers - how to manage drop offs and pick ups at primary?

I’m guessing the only solution is wraparound care, but am conscious that my children would end up there until around 5 once a week, which seems like a long day for younger children, especially with breakfast club too. I’m guessing there’s no easy solution, just interested in what others do.

I work a 0.9 and leave at 2.30 2 days a week and my dh does the same on a different two days. I never thought I’d be able to do any pick ups and I love being able to twice a week. Breakfast club every day. I reckon ask your school, mine have been great and I think there is a definite move towards trying to be more flexible. I will say I find it really stressful leaving at 2.30 as I’ve always got so much still to do after bedtime 😂 but worth it.

I teach 3 days a week. Mine go to breakfast club at 8am and I pick up from after school club once a week at half 4 or 5pm so I have to make sure to leave fairly sharpish those days. The other 2 days, the children go to grandparents. My DC are 3 and 5 and the 3 year old (at preschool so does full school days and wrap around) in particular finds the long days really hard.
But unless I worked from home, it would be similar. My DC would actually probably be ok with me picking them up and then they would sit in front of the TV for an hour without moving if I WFH!

Yeah it's the mornings that are a problem. When I worked 50 minutes away from home, I didn't do a childcare drop off, ever, my DH had to to them all. Now we love 10 minutes away so I can do the breakfast club 7.30am drop off. Unless you work close to home, or have a partner that can do the drop off, you're in nanny territory, finding a childminder who can do both an early morning and drop off at the school your kids go to is nigh on impossible. Most people cannot afford a nanny, we moved house. It wasn't the only reason why we moved house, but it was a factor.

Most teachers work 7.30- 5.30/6 on-site.

No they don't. At all.
