Suggestions for a fabulous spa hotel within four hours of London

Any recommendations please? DH and I have a chance for a weekend away and with two small DC are looking for complete relaxation.

By spa, I mean with a really decent pool around which you can lounge all day (indoors!) not a windowless basement with a few treatment rooms. We're not worried about treatments but space to lounge in a nice atmosphere is a must.

Probably rural or in a town rather than fully urban.

We've been to South Lodge before and LOVE the spa, but didn't really rate the accommodation or food and have the chance to go further afield this time.

Ockenden Manor in Cuckfield has a lovely pool and lovely lounging space!

Ragdale hall is really nice

Buxton has a spa hotel which seems lovely - the Buxton crescent hotel. I've been to the spa and the rooftop pool was lovely. It's a cute little town for a wander round too.

Calcot Manor has a lovely spa, it has a lovely outdoor jacuzzi with a log fire (plus an indoor pool). Hotel is also gorgeous with a lovely reasturant.

The scarlet in Cornwall

Another vote for The Scarlet, not sure about the four hours away, but worth it

@Thereisnoname I just came on to say the Calcot and Spa - it's lovely! There are sometimes children in the pool (set times) but I easily managed to avoid the little angels when I went there for a child-free night.

Definitely The Club at The Cottonmill which is at Sopwell House by St Albans. It’s brand new and the nicest spa I have ever been to. The gardens and relaxation rooms are divine.

I think if you stay in a Mews Suite you get access included.

Pushing your 4 hours, but Rudding Park is amazing!

Champneys at Henlow. Not much more than half an hour by train from London and they pick you up from the station. Or less than an hour up the A1.

Fly to Glasgow and go to Cameron House on Loch Lomond - wonderful!

BeeBB · 15/03/2023 21:16

I don’t have mega bucks but apart from the Sanctuary at its peak many years ago the most well equipped for relaxing and lounging I have been to is Centreparcs. Lots of different warm rooms with lovely aromas, heated outdoor pool and lots lof day beds dotted about etc.

Have you been recently?
I wouldn't describe it as amazing
