Legoland for 14yr old?

My boys have always wanted to go to Legoland Windsor, but we've never had the chance. They've been to the one in Manchester a few times years ago and loved it. Now we finally have the opportunity to visit the one in Windsor, but I'm worried it'll be too young for them now - they are 14 and 10.
The 14 year old is young for his age, and insists he wants to go, but will it be boring? Are there any fast rides?

We had Merlin Annual passes a few years ago and my then 14 year old daughter thoroughly enjoyed Legoland. No, there’s nothing big thrill about it but if your sons have always wanted to go, then it would probably be worth it?

Why do they want to go? Lots of adult fans go for the lego not the rides.

We went to Bilund a few years ago, lots of teenagers and adults.

If they’re big lego fans they’ll probably enjoy it for that reason. But the rides are definitely geared towards a younger age, an average sized 5YO can go on all but 1, so if they’re after thrill rides then go elsewhere.

We've been a few times and on the last trip our kids were 10. We felt we'd pushed our luck a bit, they found it slightly boring and none of the rides were exciting enough for them. We still had a nice day but we definitely won't take them again. I think 14 is too old. We're now planning a trip to either Thorpe Park or Alton Towers.

As a PP said though - if your kids are really into Lego then it's a different story as there is more there than just the rides.

ArdeteiMasazxu · 15/03/2023 09:04

yes they will enjoy it, if they are generally lego fans.

it's not the thrillseeker adrenaline rush that you get at the biggest rollercoaster parks but there are certainly some rides that are targeted to those who aren't little kids any more. yes they will have a good time.

I do recommend you get the basic ride-pass extra - it doesn't reduce waiting time, but it means you can use your waiting time to buy an ice cream, or get from one area of the park to another, rather than just having to stand around getting bored.

Thank you for the tips! Is there enough to fill 2 days there do you think? Or is 1 day more than enough?

I’m nearly 50 and love Legoland! We had Merlin passes last year and took DD15 and DS12 several times and they really enjoyed it. We don’t like big rides though so depends on your DC’s interests. There is plenty to keep you entertained over a couple of days. Although we were did have the oldest children there most times we went!

Ihatethenewlook · 16/03/2023 09:25

What’s the worst that can happen? He’s telling you he wants to go. If he doesn’t have that good a time then just don’t go again.

ArdeteiMasazxu · 16/03/2023 09:26

one day could be enough for many. if staying at an "on site" hotel you get the advantage on day 2 of a head-start to get into the queue for the most popular ride (which one this is varies year to year) which is excluded from the queue manager app. I've only ever bothered with the water-park area if on a 2-day stay as it's too much faff if you're only there for the day, so depends how much your kids would enjoy the water park too.

We went for DH's birthday before we had kids as he's a big lego fan and he loved it!

FlounderingFruitcake · 16/03/2023 09:29

We found 1 day fine, and that was with a 5YO that wanted to do everything from the tiny toddler rides to the big ones, but using reserve and ride passes, and skipping the water park.
