Care companion for elderly relative

An elderly aunt for one reason and another has found herself isolated and lacking confidence. She is considering sheltered accommodation but in the interim I wondered if a companion for a few hours every other day in the week might help - someone to take her our for a coffee, chat maybe a bit of light housework that kind of thing.

Does anyone have something like this for an elderly relative and if so, is it costly?

If you use a care agency for something like that, you can expect it to cost £25 - £35 per hour. The best thing would be to advertise on Indeed, for someone with experience who has a DBS or Enhanced Disclosure. Offer £15 an hour so so. I'd bite someone's hand off for a "job" like that

Yes, there seems to be a big difference in pay between agency and someone employed privately (£10 an hour or so) but I guess there are advantages to using an agency.
