Reporting benefit fraud

Has anyone ever reported benefit fraud or work for a team investigating this? How long does it take for it to be investigated? Are they always looked in to,

I did, 18 months ago - sibling claiming PIP as said their condition prevented them working (which is a real genuine condition but doesn't affect them as much they claim to the authorities), working cash in hand, family claiming tax credits and housing benefit which allows them to rent a lovely big house.

But, nothing. Sibling has had a promotion at work, but still grossly under paid. They have said they can't declare it as they'll lose their job as the employer (their friend) doesn't want to pay through the books, and besides they'll lose some of their benefits.

Will this be being looked at in the background or are most reports just ignored?

That's basically from the horse's mouth that its a very low blow what you did.

That’s absolute rubbish. Just because you are advocating BF. also if you had an ounce of a clue of what you were talking about it’s completely anonymous. No emails or names involved, so it wouldn’t be bottom of the pile or ‘malicious’ do some research before spouting poison, also probably get a job?

According to mumsnet there is zero fraud when it comes to PIP!

If she genuinely said that her disability prevents her from working and she is then the op has a case to report her. No one else’s business why she does it. The op was asking about timeframes for these things being investigated. Or she’ll take a load of money which she shouldn’t and at a later date be told she has to pay it back (which she won’t because she’ll claim she can’t afford to and it will all be forgotten.)

This thread is over a year old. The OP didn't come back when she posted it, she won't come back now!

It's perfectly legal to work and to claim PIP: in fact, one of the main purposes of PIP is to enable people to work.

If you've got this basic fact wrong, it's highly likely you're also wrong about your other claims.

As for the cash in hand work, it sounds as if it's the employer who's refusing to pay properly. The problem is, it's often very difficult for a disabled person to find work, because so few jobs and so few employers allow the flexibility, understanding and adaptations necessary, so it's likely your sibling is relieved to be able to work at all and taking what conditions the employer imposes for this reason.

The issue is that the system is extremely punitive towards disabled people and makes it difficult for them to work at all. Your sibling is probably doing the best he or she feels is possible under the circumstances in order to keep working.

How horrifying that you would do such a thing to someone in such a situation. Are you envious of their disability or illness, wishing you were ill too?

Yes but the point is that PIP don't ever ask about working because it's not a factor in their questionnaire or interview process. Which is why it probably wasn't investigated.
