Let It Go. I absolutely HATE it. It's so cringe worthy, I just cannot listen to it...

Moving on up by M People.

Ffsmakeitstop · 15/03/2023 21:45

Everybody wants to love somebody - no idea who sings it but it's literally one line all the way through. It's always on at work and if I could reach the speaker I'd smash the thing off the wall.
Wonderwall. Miserable whiny shite.

xPissflapsx · 15/03/2023 21:49

Karma Chameleon agghhh I hate that song 😠

I’ve just remembered the worst song of all time! I don’t know who sang it, and I don’t care, but it’s about some woman harassing another woman, ‘Hey Lady’, and drivelling on about her love life, ‘I’ve been to Paradise, but I’ve never been to me.’ It’s beyond awful and makes me want to tear my own ears off.

Oh yes, 'I've Never Been to Me' by Charlene. HORRIBLE song!

That song is utterly horrible

I can't hear this without imaging Hugo Weaving's Mitzi del Bra lip-synching it in his drag get-up in the opening scenes of The Adventures of Priscilla ...

This has been the most enjoyable thread for a long time, probably because I agree with much of it and have laughed long and hard at some of your ragey descriptions. Who's buying this shit to make it so popular??

Points of order though:

  • Just Want to Dance the Night Away is an excellent song and I will always love it because I heard it shortly after I dumped my twat ex and it felt like a fuck you to him.
  • I'm Every Woman is Chaka Khan, no? Unless Whitney did a cover? Great song though (CK's version), you're not having that.

Imagine by John Lennon.

I can't help imagine it being set to a video made of images from the killing fields.

Unrealistic, naive Boomer nonsense.

Toploader- Dancing in the moonlight

Yes!!!

WillowtreeHouse · 16/03/2023 06:04

Abracadabra by the Steve Miller band. Ruins my entire day.

Joystir59 · 16/03/2023 06:04

Michael Jackson's Earthsong, because of the children on stage with him, also 'Speechless' because it was inspired by him watching children.

One of my favourite moments ever was when Jarvis Cocker got up on stage at the Brits and wafted his bum in MJ's direction whilst he was performing Earth Song in protest of how awful the whole thing was!🤣🤣🤣

Anything by the Lightning Seeds

Man I feel like a woman - Shania Twain

It was dreams by Gabrielle ! 'Then you whisper in my ear that you're interested' cringe. Don't like her voice at all.

I think the lyrics are 'Then you whisper in my ear that you're here to stay'
Still cheesy but better than 'interested'. Hope this may make it more bearable for you🤣

Greydogs123 · 16/03/2023 06:58

Jolene, because its story is so sexist. Completely blaming some woman because he’s having an affair. Saying she can never be happy without him. It’s such a good tune, but just awful message.

SinnerBoy · 16/03/2023 07:09

Justforlaffs · 12/03/2023 20:54

Anything by: Manic Street Preachers

That's understandable, the Chronic Street Whingers have 12 albums and one tune.

LucieLemon · 16/03/2023 08:54

Another vote for Toploader - Dancing in the Moonlight.

I'll add Meatloaf's Two Outta Three Ain't Bad, it's the lyrics more than anything, unless I'm missing something? No, 2 out of 3 is not good enough!!

Ángels by Robbie Williams
All Adele songs
Ce Ce Peniston. Dreadful lyrics like 'brown coco skin' and 'that gentle loving stare'. What the fuck is a gentle loving stare? arrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh

But the worst of all is:

Fecking 'Come on Eileen'. Chris Tarrant used to regularly start his breakfast show with it and by god it made me leap out of bed to switch the radio alarm off when I heard the first screech of the violin in the intro.

I used to think she was singing ‘I’ve never been to Leeds’ and while it’s an awesome city 😉 paradise it’s not 😂

I like 'Come On Eileen', though it's never been quite the same for me since a friend told me that she always hears it as 'Covid 19'.
