It's giving Pollyanna

So, my family have completely forgotten that it's Mother's Day. Not a mention, not a card, not a flower, in sight.

I don't know how you can miss it but apparently it's possible. Bringing it up seems embarrassing.

In my best attempt at resilience, and bringing a bit of Pollyanna to it, I went out earlier and bought myself some flowers and a bottle of wine and turned off my social media to avoid all the 'lunch at the Wolseley - feeling so spoilt!" posts.

I appreciate it's not a reflection on my parenting (or maybe it is) but my feelings are hurt. Justifiably or not.

To any other mothers out there who are having a less than stellar Mothering Sunday, I hope you feel better soon and the sting fades soon.

Bless you OP. Take Arabella's cuppa and chill.

thepurplepenguin · 12/03/2023 19:27

My DH also thought Mothering Sunday was today. He moon-pigged me a card and chocolates as he is currently abroad, bless him😂

Dartmoorcheffy · 12/03/2023 19:29

This is hilarious. Did the lack of "My dh didn't get me anything " posts on here not make you check. Maybe you should have gone on social media too . 🤣🤣🤣

Brace for turning “moon pig” into a verb!

tiredhadenough · 12/03/2023 19:31

JudgyVonHolierThanThou · 12/03/2023 19:40

I’m not in the UK (but did pause to think - where are all the MD FB posts from my UK friends??), so it’s not Mother’s Day here.

I’m just posting for the realisation post from the OP!

I'm hoping to star in a Pedant's Corner thread very shortly...

Is this some kind of attempt to create a thread that makes it to Classics? Because it isn’t all that.

Mammyloveswine · 12/03/2023 19:44

Awkward....

cheeseisthebest · 12/03/2023 19:52

Just placemarking for when the OP comes back!!!

ChickenRat · 12/03/2023 19:53

I suspect OP isn't coming back @cheeseisthebest 😂

itsgettingweird · 12/03/2023 19:54

I was reading this thinking - it's not until next week?!

Turns out I'm right.

flexigirl · 12/03/2023 19:54

Oh god OP I did this last year ! Felt sorry for myself before realising I'd fucked up the dates 😂

Lamplighters · 12/03/2023 19:55

I know Mothers Day is next week but do people really get this upset? I won’t get anything for Mother’s Day, I already know that, it’s only my second so my son can’t do anything and DHwont.

Redglitter · 12/03/2023 19:56

😂😂😂

God OP I hope you haven't given your family a hard time for 'forgetting'

Yes this is what i am wondering as well!! Definitely a false post and not Classics worthy.

GlassBunion · 13/03/2023 08:11

Just checking in for an update...but now I think @blackpinkinyourarea and @SittingNextToIt could be right.

Shame.
