Boasty thread because I'm so proud of myself

Almost 2 years ago to the day I was posting on MN (name change) regarding my H walking out and leaving me with 18mo DD. I was devastated, didn't have a pot to piss in, working part time with no childcare (MIL for the 3 days I worked), away from all my family and absolutely at rock bottom. I had no idea how I would survive. I was driving around in a 21 year old car on 205k that wasn't even worth scrap value. I borrowed money from my parents to buy an old BMW, which I loved and has treated me well, but again, was worthless - relevant to my boast.

Now I work full time, my DD is almost 3.5yo, in a wonderful childcare setting, I've had a promotion and a pay rise, paid off nearly all of my debt and today, I bought myself a Jaguar. I've saved and saved and I've just bought myself a Jaguar. It's used, but it's absolutely stunning and so luxurious. I've saved so hard, built a great life for me and DD with financial security thanks to my promotion, and I've just bought myself a Jaguar.

So this is a boast post, but I'm so proud that I've got myself out of the awful situation I was in, built a life for me and DD and can now swan about in my new car, then come home to my lovely (rented albeit) house with my amazing little girl.

I'm so grateful. And I know how privileged I am, I really do, but sometimes it's nice to be proud of your own achievements and this is what I am. Who said 27 and divorced was a bad thing?! Wink

AnuSTart · 12/03/2023 18:41

Every day I come on MN wanting to see posts like this. One day I dream that posts of 'I'm with an asshole who I don't really know is an asshole and I want to leave him but not sure I can' posts will be outnumbered by posts of success by survivors.

Well done OP!! 🎉🍾

KeithBurtons · 12/03/2023 18:44

What a lovely post :) Bloody well done! Lovely to hear you have turned things round so spectacularly and things are so happy for you and your daughter Flowers

CleremyJarkeson · 12/03/2023 19:12

You lot are incredible. Thank you all so much for your words of congratulations. It's honestly blown me away how supportive everyone has been.

Huge well done to anyone and everyone who has overcome a bad situation and to anyone going through one, it really does get better.

It's a white XF, R-Sport and I pick it up tomorrow after work. Safe to say no work will be getting done tomorrow, I'll be far too excited!

And i hope this post will help someone who is in the situation you were in 2 years ago, to realise although its dark now it can get brighter.
