Might have to put him under the patio for this (pic included).

I’ve got the rage! How many times do I have to tell him that if there is some laundry that is heavily stained to either ask my advice or just leave it for me! I’ve tried to teach him how to use stain removers and which cycles to use etc.. but I suspect he’s just too lazy to do it! So he chucks it in the machine with no treatment and hopes for divine intervention! 🙄 Now I will need to sort out ds very muddy footie kit which has the mud “washed in” thanks to Mr Clueless/lazy! Aaaargh!!!

Gets spade out and waits for nightfall…

Might have to put him under the patio for this (pic included).

All that mud will ruin the washing machine as well!

Why are you acting like you’re his parent?

After a couple of times asking for advice, then he knows what to do. No one needs to ask for advice on washing for their whole life.

It sounds like you’re indulging and enabling his fake incompetence. And weirdly enjoy the drama and being the ‘go to’ person about washing. Confused

Everything once white, which I own, is some awful shade of grey, green-blue, or yellow. My wife went mad at me, because I hadn't realised there was something red and one of our daughter's polo shirts went pink.

One thing ever!

Can you save some space for my DH, I always know when he's emptied the dishwasher because not only are things in the wrong places, he just upends the cutlery into the drawer ... and closes it!!!!

Sunriseinwonderland · 12/03/2023 15:38

Why all the nastiness towards the OP. Her H repeatedly ruins the laundry and the machine. Should she just stand there and let him destroy the place? Ffs. He needs to grow up and be more responsible. He is not a child supposedly.

DIMooney · 12/03/2023 15:44

Yeah, sorry. Another person who doesn’t see the issue. I don’t treat anything. Goes in dirty, comes out clean. But then I’m a scruff 😆
Just allow him to wear stained clothes. As long as he doesn’t wash yours in with it!

MissyB1 · 12/03/2023 16:24

I should probably unclench a bit about laundry but he would be quite capable of ruining something of mine! I’ve just told him that if he can’t be arsed to do it properly then at least don’t ever touch my clothes!
And yes I do want some of that mud off before the kit goes in, as pp said it’s not good for the machine.

It's only mud right? I'd have just chucked that in the wash, and it would have come out clean. We don't need to routinely treat anything before chucking in the wash. Is your machine working OK? You shouldn't need to treat to get mud out.

I completely agree with this. My ds got back caked in mud today and i just shoved it in the machine. Its all perfectly clean. Grass stains are different but mud just washes out usually. What detergent do you use?

so which is it? He needs to grow up and be more responsible or she needs to do the washing for him because she’ll hardly going to stand there and let him destroy the place? I think what you perceive as ‘nastiness’ to the OP is actually people pointing out your exact point that he needs to grow up and be more responsible - but also recognising that if that is going to happen, she needs to stop facilitating his weaponised incompetence.

I’m trying to do all my cycles on 30 degrees and 30 minutes quick wash to save money. It’s possible if you treat stains first.

I must be missing something because I don't know what you do to get mid off other than put it in the machine.

Washing aside, he doesn't listen to you, that's a problem.

Sorry I cross posted. How do you treat the stains other than by washing thoug

Fladdermus · 12/03/2023 19:26

I'm in my 50s and haven't got the foggiest what stain removers are. All laundry get bunged in the the machine and is clean when it comes out the other end whatever it looks like. I'm team DH.

On the other hand, if you're digging up the patio do you have space for 2? Mine is an absolute bugger for leaving tissues in his pockets.

Is this your partner or your child?

Same thing tbh

Fraaahnces · 12/03/2023 19:32

Give it back with some stain removal spray, a bucket and some oxy clean tell him to spray it all, then fill the bucket with cold water, dissolve some oxy clean and soak it overnight. He can wash it himself in the morning.

summerfinn · 12/03/2023 19:34

Jesus how do women put up with men that aren't capable of doing anything. My husband can do everything I can do but probably better. He even cooks dinner every evening 🙈 he puts washes on when he sees laundry is piling up and even pre treats stains if needs be. We aren't living in the 1950s anymore. I'd tell your husband to learn how to do the washing or fork out for the clothes he ruins.

AlisonDonut · 12/03/2023 19:36

How much money is saved if you have to rewash everything (or buy new clothes)?

Leftleg · 12/03/2023 19:40

I've never used any stain removers or treatments. I'm not sure why they wouldn't be clean after being in the machine.

CorvusPurpureus · 12/03/2023 19:40

'Oh dh, you muppet. Now you will have to buy ds a new shirt. Well, yes, you could try to rescue that one. Good luck. For future reference, really muddy kit needs soaking in a bucket first, or this does happen.'

<retire from fray & leave him & ds to it>.

Basically that’s how it played out. He has it soaking!
