I'm sorry to ask but how do we know that this is genuine?

Don't be sorry. I think there's been alot of heated debate about the authenticity of the threads. It's all a bit weird.

I'm not sure the people posting flowers care if it's genuine or not. They just want to feel part of something.

LucyLeave · 12/03/2023 13:38

These flower threads are really odd.

It’s like mass hysteria…..someone does it and everyone then feels they should do it too 🤷‍♀️

@GrasstrackGirl I'm not the arbiter of genuine. I answered your question. At one stage, the thread was temporarily suspended, but reinstated so presumably MN were happy with it.
If I doubted this was genuine, I would not raise that concern where a genuine family would be distressed by it but privately with MN. Why wouldn't you?

Her mum thought she was wonderful. We're empathising with her mum.

I really don't understand why people don't just scroll on by if they don't like it or understand it.
I don't 'get' all sorts of threads. I don't seek them out to pour doubts and cold tea on them.

@picklemewalnuts I understand that but I don't understand why someone would say they think that claire herself was wonderful when they don't know her.

Not commenting on the veracity or otherwise of the Claire threads. However, as a matter of principle, claiming that your child is dead - if untrue - would cross a line. There are many MNetters who have lost children IRL. It's not as simple as just ignoring the threads because they appear in Trending and Active, and people may click on them without knowing what to expect.

No one wants to deny a grieving person support but, equally, bereaved parents should be protected - as far as possible - from trolling and attention-seekers.

Some might say we hope the whole thing was concocted, because if it isn’t then some of the comments and nastiness on this and the other thread might tip the poor woman completely over the edge.

If you don’t believe the authenticity of the poster then reporting it and challenging it via MNHQ might be a good idea
