Vinted help. Buyer refusing to post Royal Mail

FannythePinkFlamingo · 11/03/2023 13:13

I've bought and paid for an item on Vinted, selecting RM as my preferred delivery method. They also offer Evri but I don't want to use them as my previous experiences aren't good. The seller has now sent a message asking me to check my delivery method as 'they don't have Royal Mail'. What are my options here? I've paid the extra for RM and want it posted by RM but I think they will refuse.

Every thing I have bought from Vinted comes Evri. It’s also easier for sellers as they can drop at a parcel shop rather than waiting for a post office to be open.
maybe the seller lives somewhere without a post office nearby? They are shutting in droves

ohdoleavemealoneplease · 11/03/2023 13:17

I won't order things online if I know they use Evri

fairypeasant · 11/03/2023 13:17

Either you agree to evri, or the item never gets sent and you get a refund, I guess.

QueenMabs · 11/03/2023 13:18

Do you mean seller?

Well I'd just cancel it then. RM is a massive pain on vinted.

Seller shouldn't have RM switched on but they have made a mistake and it up to you to cancel or accept evri.

What's wrong with evri?

Pieandchips1234456 · 11/03/2023 13:20

I hate using royal mail on vinted. Eveo is so much easier. You either accept evei or you cancel your order.

HazyDragon · 11/03/2023 13:20

Cancel the order and buy again with Evri or just cancel. You can't force the seller to post RM if they don't want to.

They need to remember RM from their posting options though.

Pieandchips1234456 · 11/03/2023 13:21

Evri **

FannythePinkFlamingo · 11/03/2023 13:21

Sorry, yes I mean the seller. My reluctance to use Evri is that they've lost/not delivered parcels before. I guess in this occasion I'll just have to suck it up as I really want this item - sold out in the shop!

I never allow Royal Mail when I sell things. It’s slow and unreliable and makes Evri, Yodel etc look reliable Grin. Royal Mail is dark ages territory.

gettingolderandgrumpier · 11/03/2023 13:31

She should have turned Royal Mail off as the option to use so she kind of has to suck it up and know for next time . Perhaps she didn’t realise and doesn’t have a post office local that she can get to . I don’t use Royal Mail as an option as the evri on Inpost locker is much easier and I pass on my way to from work .the post office is not so it would have to be a Saturday as my only option .

shakeitoffsis · 11/03/2023 13:32

As a seller I never offer RM as I find them archaic however if it was offered they should honour it, and change their settings for who they want to use for shipping in future.

dontgobaconmyheart · 11/03/2023 13:33

I've never had an issue with an Evri delivery so can't comment negatively about them in that respect.

All you can do is accept Evri, or cancel the order. Presumably the seller will cancel otherwise anyway because they don't want to use RM.

gogohmm · 11/03/2023 13:35

If you had ordered from me i would say the same, post office shut down after Christmas. Evri however picks up from the coop on my street.

gogohmm · 11/03/2023 13:36

With evri, the best thing is to pick up from your local parcel shop because they don't dump the package in random places that way

hopefullyunrecognisable · 11/03/2023 13:37

I actually prefer to send RM because they do free collection from home now, as I mostly WFH that's more convenient for me than driving to a parcel shop. www.royalmail.com/collection

Totally agree so many things just don’t turn up I bought at £80 item which was ‘lost’ in the RM I feel sorry for sellers that have to use them, seller had to refund me as there was no POD, they also ignore safe place and redelivery instructions
see their Trust Pilot page to se just how unfit for purpose they are these days

It's not up to her to cancel or accept evri! If the seller hasn't switched RM off then the onus is on her to sort it.

Clevs · 11/03/2023 14:42

I'd screenshot the postage options and tell her she does have Royal Mail. If she won't post it though there's nothing you can do. Even if she doesn't live near a post office you can arrange items to be collected free of charge anyway so not sure what her problem is, unless she's never in when the postman comes.

anon2022anon · 11/03/2023 14:47

Royal mail parcel sizes don't align with other courier parcel sizes on Vinted, and don't cover for signed postage, so the amount charged on Vinted is not actually enough for posting via royal mail in lots of cases.

LakeTiticaca · 11/03/2023 15:12

Buyer needs to switch off the RM option. I don't use it as the seller has to pay the initial postage then its refunded when the buyer pays. I also got fed up of them not turning up for home collection. If I buy anything I usually request evri to drop off at local garage, although our local evri courier is really good.
The Yodel inpost lockers are quite good as well, I've found.
Just cancel the order if the seller won't budge

RandomUsernameHere · 11/03/2023 15:18

The seller is at fault as they shouldn't offer a postage option they're not prepared to use. Wait for the seller to cancel the order then you can repurchase if you want to.

QueenMabs · 11/03/2023 17:53

@MoggyMittens23 of course it's the sellers fault but All the seller will do is cancel the order.

I've cancelled orders for reason that were my fault and buyers have all been lovely. I obviously inform them.

So they buyer has to either accept evri or not get the package. The buyer has no power in this situation. It's not like it's a formal contract with an online shop.
