Large house with 5 adults, how much is your metered water bill?

We're not on a meter yet but have the option to change over. Our latest annual bill is an eye-watering £800+. But I'm worried a metered bill will be more with baths/showers and the washing machine going etc. If you live in a large house with 5 adults, how much is your bill?

We're not five adults but we are 2 adults 3 children and ours is about £50/month. We have daily showers, about 10 loads of washing a week and a dishwasher. We aren't overly careful with our usage.

We are a large family- 4 adult kids, me and dh and ds1's gf living with us. We are not metered and our latest bill is £536.69 for the year ( Severn trent). I really hope they don't switch us to metered.

It's going to depend on which area and water company you are with. We pay about £700 annually with Wessex Water on a meter. Family of 5 - 3 adults.

Anglian water metered here . 5 adults and two under 16 , plus 3 horses and field water yearly bill was 900 . If we'd put in another meter just for the outside it would have been less because obviously they charge sewage for 90 percent , when really they were probably only treating 60% . New bill just came in and nearly had heart failure. Turned out we'd had an undiscovered leak in the field, and instead of using 200 cubic metres, we'd used 563 . The bill was so high , the system wouldn't allow it to generate . Fortunately, they could see what had happened, and the gave us a leakage allowance which pretty much covered the excess . Right now they are my favourite utility company

House suitable for 5 adults and unmetered.

£725 for the year based on rateable value for 3 bed detached . As far as I can work out only £105 of it would vary if we had a meter. The rest is one £600 of charges that wouldn't change.

£64 per month metered and we live in an area with high water charges.

2 adults 2 teenagers metered £55 per month. Normally 3 showers daily. bath filled 3 times min a week. Washing machine min twice daily. Normally fill the large pool over the summer too.

Between 3&7 adults here, typically 4. Bill is £250 per 6 months. No significant gardening goes on, use commercial car wash, 2 of the typical household make up are a little water shy

There's usually a calculator on the Water Companies websites which works out what you would pay. I doubt it would be cost effective with 5 adults.
We pay £43pm on a meter with 3 adults but we are in a Severn Trent area and judging by what I've seen on other discussions about water, I think they are one of the cheapest companies.

£37 per month for 2 adults 2 teens in Severn Trent area. Teens spend over half an hour each day in shower despite my moaning.

We've only just had a meter installed but in general if you have fewer people than bedrooms then a meter is probably cheaper than equivalent charge based on rateable value. Size of house shouldn't make a difference to how much you use on a meter.

Most companies will allow you to swap back to paying rates in the first 2 years if it works out more expensive.

Large detached house, 2 adults, 3 teenagers, 1 youngster. Usually 4-5 showers a day and at least washing machine load per day and we are paying just short of £500 a year.

We got forced to swap to a meter 11 months ago, our ‘comparative billing’ period is almost up and our annual bill will be going from £480 (rates) to estimated of £790 (metered)…

Large house with 2 kids and 3 adults plus I work from home doing a job that involves a lot of water.

We're on a meter with Seven Trent water and pay £36 a month.
