Mine is me and DP selling up, buying a motor home and driving away from our lives to a new one adventure.
(I have never actually been in a motor home or caravan).

Oh I have several. One is to farm alpacas and have a little wool/craft shop. Another is to basically become Baba Yaga and live in a cottage deep in the forest. And same as pp, another is to live in a cottage by the sea and write novels.

Loving this thread. I want a gorgeous house near the sea. With a garden with raised beds so I can potter and grow flowers and vegetables.
A camper van for adventures with my husband.
Most of all never to have to work again.

Flat above owned bookshop in a vibrant seaside town with a couple of welcoming cosy pubs across the road

Marrying an artistic older Cuban with a beard and living near the beach drinking coconut cocktails and writing and reading.

A little shop somewhere back home in Wales selling plants and books - plus coffee in nice pottery mugs, and a few carefully selected antiques for good measure.

Having a lie in

Florissant · 11/03/2023 20:13

Live in a villa with a swimming pool in Bali and have the funds to go to the beach and eat sushi every day.

In my escapist fantasy, I’m happily married to a gorgeous German architect and we split our time between our home in the RhineValley and our summer home in Portugal. I have a metallic bottle green coloured sports car, and I make a very good salary as a data analyst for a Formula 1 team. My husband made millions in his architect business so he retired at the age of 36 and now dedicates his time to charity work and raising our children.

In reality, I live in a poverty stricken northern mining village, in a shite admin job a smidge above minimum wage.

Damn. Now that is a fantasy I could easily steal. I like the retirement at 36! 😆👏

Mine is to buy a large old farmhouse with lots of barns/outbuildings to convert for the DC to live in, and have everyone around me. And space for lots of rescue dogs. There's one locally that I've been drooling over on Rightmove but I'm currently about £5million short..... Hmm

Luckydog7 · 12/03/2023 17:06

Don't know of it counts as an escapist fantasy but I want to have more space. Happy where I am but we have a tiny house that we extended in 3 directions and its still only just big enough for the four of us.

I want a house big enough for me to have my own generous office/craft room. Massive desk with 4 screens to do my job (3d artist) my drawing board, tons of art supplies, and everything all set up so I don't have to hide it all away when the family get home. A cosy corner for book and wool storage, and a door with a lock... my kids are 3 and 5.

Johnisafckface · 12/03/2023 17:09

To win the lottery and give all my loved ones/friends a $1M a piece. Buy some land in the woods near a beautiful lake and live out the rest of my life there away from everybody.

JMSA · 12/03/2023 17:13

No kids, no pets, no real responsibility. A cosy cottage somewhere by the sea, and lots of books and films.

MyOwnVolt · 12/03/2023 17:15

To buy and live on a canal boat. I think about it a lot, I’m really struggling with life at the moment.

Tonkerbea · 12/03/2023 17:22

I would also like to live in a canal boat, but it would never be bitterly cold, just cosy by the wood burner, with lots of enamel ware painted prettily with roses.

I hope you're OK by the way.

Echobelly · 12/03/2023 17:27

My DH sells the software product he's working on for a fortune and we can buy a house with a driveway and a bigger garden, and maybe a second place in the south of France. Oh, and not worry about retirement!

ClassicLib · 12/03/2023 17:31

Just to be able to afford to retire comfortably. Sounds dull, but it’s the truth.

SwedishEdith · 12/03/2023 17:45

Funny how most people aren't bothered about a big house or more stuff. Just a simple job to keep you intellectually stimulated, no employer and somewhere with a view.

Qantaqa · 12/03/2023 17:51

Id like to be on a remote island somewhere self sufficient and just left alone.

Bit worryingly I don't have the family with me although I've taken the animals with me :)

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 12/03/2023 18:02

Marry a handsome NFL player and have an animal sanctuary.

MissingMoominMamma · 12/03/2023 18:03

I want to live on a Scottish island (I’ve been there several times). DH would never go for it though…

DDoOneRon · 12/03/2023 19:19

I hope you're OK by the way.

If that was for me, thank you Flowers

A beautiful cottage on the Welsh borders, nestled in rolling countryside with far-reaching views. I can potter about growing a fabulous flowers in my garden. I've already mentally planned some Indian architecture-inspired fruit cages for my raspberries etc. I shall also have a large glasshouse and pond. I'll have a cat or two and an Italian greyhound. I'll also have a large studio to host sewing days and a workshop with space for my upholstery work and a separate area with a kiln for my hot-glasswork. I also need a small orchard set in a meadow.. Ahhh bliss... Oh, and it will have a stream that never floods the house.. Grin

Why is that only a dream?

ChocAuVin · 12/03/2023 22:49

Move to a little seaside town (have one in mind) and swim every day of the year.

Lovely stone-built, mortgage-free house overlooking the water, with enough bedrooms to have all the DC / my friends visit whenever and a rambling, cosy downstairs with open fires and a large kitchen with a huge bubbly-stocked fridge giving way to a pretty, walled English garden, festooned with lights and a perfect space to eat outside.

A light-filled attic room at the very top of the house where I can hear the sea; paint sporadically, and write prolifically — poems and novellas about byegone eras.

Living in Shetland away from everyone

apart from me - who would be in the little hoose just down the valley from you, almost on the beach - but I would stay well out of your way, with maybe just a cheery wave every few weeks.
