Think dentist has given me wrong filling

Had a check up at the dentist a couple of weeks ago, told I needed a filling and given the upsell about having a white composite instead of the cheaper visible one, and was told composite would be £150. I agreed I would like the composite. Didn't book immediately as I had to wait to be paid but booked and paid the £150 2 weeks later and had the appointment the day before yesterday.

I just had a look at it for the first time and the dentist hasn't used composite, it's clearly a silver filling. I'm gutted as obviously it doesn't look great (thankfully it's a back tooth).

I really hate confrontation and now I'm
second guessing myself if I could have misunderstood because there's nothing in writing. What would you do, should I query it?

Of course query it, because you don't have what you thought you paid for, at the very least they refund you.

I am not sure how difficult or unpleasant it would be to get them to replace it; you might not want to do that; but maybe it could be covered?

I think it's fine to query it, no need for confrontation as such. You are puzzled about something and you are simply asking a question about it. That's absolutely fine.

Surely the fact you paid the composite price rather than the (presumably cheaper) other option price shows that you were expecting (and have paid for) a white filling.

Yeah I’d query it.

Just call them up and ask what the composition of the filling you just had is?

Then after they reply either they’ll say “it’s white composite” and then you can say something like “it looks grey is it suppose to look like that”. And take it from there.

Or they’ll say it’s amalgam or whatever the alternative is. And then you can ask what the price for that is usually and then lead into - because you were under the impression the £150 was for the white.

Otherwise you’ll always be wondering. it could just be a mistake/admin error.

I always make sure these days to say exactly what I’m going in for when I go to appointments lol because I’m so fed up of stuff like this happening.
