Someone on here recommended the Big Bake Off just before Christmas. They have two locations in London. DC absolutely loved it.

Circolo Popolare

The National Portrait Gallery is closed currently. The Wellcome Collection is small but quirky and near King's Cross Coal Drops Yard which has a lot of eating places.

Depends how deep your pockets are- but why not treat her to a cocktail at the Sanderson Hotel. So chic! North of Oxford Street. There is a sister hotel in St Martin's Lane (called St Martin's). Cocktail bar itself not as fab but the cocktails equally wonderful.

River cruise with afternoon tea - ive been on one and it's very good. Could go to Leicester Square and get last minute tickets for a show. Ridley's believe it or not, Madame Tussaud's

We're going in May. We've booked breakfast at the Sky Garden which is £10 including coffee and a pastry.

We've also booked drinks and bar snacks at the OXO Tower.

The plan is to go to the Tate Modern then get the boat to Tate Britain.

If your daughter has any interest in art, then either the After Impressionist exhibition at the National Gallery, or the Berthe Morisot one at Dulwich Picture Gallery. If so, book tickets now.

What does she like?

If she likes manga/Korean stuff there is a big exhibition on at the V&A

There is a really cool immersive light art exhibition at the Beams warehouse in east London that is supposed to be like the Yayoi Kusama installation on steroids

Lots of tiktok famous places to have cakes and treats like Japanese cloud cheesecake and Killa Waffles.

Ave Mario restaurant in Covent Garden - very photogenic and owned by the people as circolo poplare.

Saatchi gallery in Chelsea has an amazing exhibition on at the moment but I've not been.

Walk along south bank from tower to Westminster
Walk along brick lane and spitalfields market and boxpark. Junk yard golf if you like daft things.

Is she more serious or fun? More Charles dicken house or more London dungeons?

Liberty
Brick Lane/Colombia Road Flower Market + Beigels
Cool exhibitions at Somerset House and 180 Strand
David Hockney immersive exhibition at Coal Drops Yard
Communter riverbus for a different perspective
Sky Garden to see where you are (or another great height, there are a few)
last min cheapo tickets for a show (Friday scramble tickets for National Theatre for eg)

IsItThough · 08/03/2023 20:00

DD (16) also loved
Dennis Severs House
John Soanes House
Barbican conservatory
British Museum sounds glaringly obvious but is truly amazing

JulesJules · 08/03/2023 20:08

Get the river bus - eg South Bank to the Tower of London.

My DDs loved the tour at The Globe theatre, also the National Gallery.

Brasserie Zedel.

sashagabadon · 08/03/2023 20:09

Afternoon tea at Sketch

Stoechas · 08/03/2023 20:15

Highlights with my 18 yo dd last summer were the Small is Beautiful exhibition (not sure if it’s still on), House of Mina Lima and The Book of Mormon.

Brick lane and spitalfields is the main thing my teens like to do, they still like Camden, the music shops on Denmark street and a wander round . They still also do the whole soho / vintage shops thing too.

they also like sticks and sushi in Covent Garden which is a favourite and they also like Delaunay / the wolseley. If you like afternoon tea then the Rosewood is beautiful. The ritz is a bit naff really and touristy and we love cocktails somewhere like Ham Yard.

the immersive art exhibition mentioned above

to kill a mockingbird at the theatre
