Ultrasound advice

I fell and badly damaged my quad muscle about 6 weeks ago. It's still very sore and not healed and I am wondering why and if there is some sort of issue or complication.

My GP won't refer me for anything but looking online I can pay privately for an MRI, xray, or ultrasound.

The MRI is well out of my budget. The xrays are only offered in London which I live nowhere near (and anyway, don't show muscle, right?) But I can get a private ultrasound at an affordable price nearish me.

My question is: would an ultrasound show anything? Is it the right kind of scan to show muscle or bone damage? Is it worth doing? I feel kind of stuck as my doctor won't help, the physio says he can't really know what's going on just from the outside and I'm not sure where to go now.

Thanks

Six weeks post-injury isn’t really very long at all. A family member injured their shoulder in September and it still isn’t right, despite ongoing physio. Can’t advise on the ultrasound procedure but at this stage it sounds like it wouldn’t necessarily tell you anything you don’t already know. You’ve sustained an injury and it will take time to recover.

All the best to you

Has the physio mentioned ultrasound? I would think they would be best placed to advise. If they don't know maybe try another physio.
Also I'm not sure how private imaging services work. Do you still need a referral from a Dr or medical professional that is suitably qualified to refer?

With the one I've found online you don't need any referral and can just book and pay yourself.
