Crack in lip - getting a bit concerned

I’m 21 weeks pregnant, it’s going fine.

When I was only about 6/7 weeks pregnant I got really ill: still not sure what it was but had terrible dirrorhea for several days, got very dehydrated and my top lip cracked. That was the start of December.

Three no the later and it’s no better. Still cracked, bleeds regularly, really painful. I don’t know what else to do. Taking pregnancy vitamins so shouldn’t be deficient in anything really. Can anyone help? I know it’s something and nothing really but it’s so painful.

Stupid question but have you been using lip balm/ Vaseline?

3 things I would personally try.

First lansinoh nipple cream. As much as you like and regularly. It's magic. If that doesn't make any progress then a tiny dab of canesten cream in case it's fungal (this is more common at corners of mouth) Finally some sort of antibiotic cream - not sure what you can get OTC in UK.

Disclaimer. Not a HCP. Just a lifelong sufferer of similar. And I mean tiny amounts of the latter two which I'm sure won't be recommended in pregnancy as nothing is.

Blistex cold sore cream. Fixes cracked lips overnight.

I get very cracked sore lips if I’m run down.

I had this for months. Ended up seeing my gP and being subscribed a mild steroid cream which healed it overnight and have never had it back.

Blistex intensive moisturiser, or the cold sore cream in the metal tube.

Stay away from Vaseline / chapstick / lip balm etc which don't actually moisturise.

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream is brilliant for anything like this

Agree with Lansinoh! Also, I'd avoid SLS in your toothpaste - for me, that was the culprit.
