Just ordered one with my Christmas money. Very excited!

Any top tips?

heat the mug with boiling water in parallel with the velvetiser running.
It turns the chocolate from 'drink now' temperature to 'sip and savour'.

Thanks TeenDivided

I've wanted one for years but always thought they were so expensive, which I guess they still are.
I got it for £70 with a loyalty card discount.

Whats the most economical way of buying the sachets?

I’m not sure about how to get the sachets cheaply, but presumably the larger bags are better value? They don’t do all the flavours in that format though. I have found that I don’t need as much as the 35g in the sachet, it comes out a bit strong/sweet. I think 25g is enough, so I tend to use half the sachet and make the weight up to 25g with milk/dark/whatever I’ve got from a larger bag. The sachets go further that way!

They sometimes have sachets and bags in the sale.

If you live close to an outlet, they normally have the sachets that are about to expire so are significantly cheaper.

You don't need to buy their expensive sachets! I just use Cadbury hot choc and it's perfect (have one every day). They're also really good for chai lattes (I buy the powder) and for frothy coffee. Wouldn't be without mine, between me and DH we run it maybe 3/4 times a day for hot choc/ frothy coffee/chai lattes!! You can also use it for milk frothing on top of a coffee.

You don't need to buy the sachets from Hotel Chocolate. It will work with any hot chocolate powder. I just buy regular Cadbury's and it works fine.

You can use any chocolate, not just the hotel chocolat ones, and i use mine to make my husband latte. Just add coffee instead of chocolate powder ( or with, for a mocha) 😍

Tesco sell the velvetised chocolate cream if you fancy a tipsy hot chocolate. Also, if you're ever near Cheshire Oaks the outlet there usually has bargain sachets, as does the factory shop off the M1.

Definitely heat the cups while it’s making the hot chocolate. It doesn’t come out of the velvetiser particularly hot, so if you want to really savour it, just pour boiling water in your mug to warm it.

I’m not a fan of the chocolate, it’s a bit rich for me, so I use Cadbury’s powder or sachets of Options. If you use a lot, put it in your cup and pour the milk over it, as it makes it easier to clean.

Clean it as soon as you can. Dried chocolate is a bugger to get off!

I have had a little mess with various chocolate bars - Twirls work but they're very sweet. Grated dark choc like Bournville is nice. Nothing clumpy or with bits in though, in case it clags up the blades.

Best way to clean it is put warm water in and a squirt of washing up liquid and let it run a cycle.
