Sen DD having back pain wwyd?

7YO DD fell backwards off her chair at school on Friday (we've still not received an accident form). She has SEN and has a very low threshold for pain/discomfort but since Friday she's complained about her back hurting. At first the pain seemed higher up but she sat down hard on the stairs this morning and is now saying the pain is in her tail bone area. Read some stuff about back pain in kids and have scared myself witless though she's still running/dancing around as normal without complaint until I ask her about it.

She finds the GP really distressing so just wondering if this is a wait and see thing or Dr's ASAP thing, thoughts and opinions would be appreciated!

Personally I'd write to school and ask them what happened so it's recorded.

Secondly I'd give her calpol and warm bath on an evening .... it could take a while for the bruising to heal.

I wouldn't take my son to the dr in this case as it's more stress than it's worth and he would refuse to go (but you might want to but if she is dancing and moving around she should be ok) it's prob just time.

That's what I'd do - but if your worried then take her to the dr. Hope she feels better soon

Ask your GP’s opinion by phone first?

Also agree consult GP on a phone appointment . I spent a long time in A and E with a child where part of the issue was back pain . It’s something they treat seriously as it’s not something children tend to complain of I was told at the time

Not complain of

I think I would probably do A&E if it was spontaneous with no cause, initially I thought it was until she remembered to tell me about the fall before bed on Friday night. DH also rightly pointed out I can't take a dancing child to A&E! She doesn't seem to be in any pain at all until I ask her about it and then she will start saying it still hurts etc.
