What career/job would work here?!

I'm happy to do further education or training, I'm happy to pursue a degree if necessary etc but I don't know where to start

28, two kids 3 & 0, I work in admin and earn £25k pro rata but only work 22 hours. My husband earns a lot more than me but cannot take any time off during any school holidays or bank holidays (except Christmas and feb half term)

Holiday clubs only run for a small percentage of the school holidays (i.e 2 days for a half term, 2 weeks of the 6 week summer holidays etc), I can't take more than 2 weeks leave and I don't have anyone who can help with the other 2 weeks

I requested term time only at my job but it's been declined so I need to look elsewhere really. I did think about a job in a school but it'll make it almost impossible to holiday with my husband and our kids all together

Is there some job that fits here? I think I'm looking for something that doesn't exist

I have nowhere near enough annual leave to cover every school holiday and bank holiday even if I was allowed it. I don't know how single parents cope! If my husband could help out we'd just about manage but it's so tricky to navigate just me.

Some civil service jobs allow term time only

Do you have any family that can help out and look after children in the school holidays? I suspect that's how a lot of people manage, but I have the same worries although DS is only 1 and wonder how people without family/single parents manage.

So many parents have to deal with not having anywhere near the holidays to cover school holiday periods and don't need to work term time only. We've personally not got any family help but rely on holiday clubs.

Really are there no holiday clubs offering full coverage of 5 days/across all holiday weeks? With your children being so young I wonder if you're aware of all the options that will be available to you?

I'd say term time work is generally few and far between - I would potentially consider self employment options if you need that much flexibility. My SIL is a mortgage broker and can be completely flexible both around her working hours and also during the holidays.

It might be helpful to look through some threads on the Mature Study and Retraining board, here:

There’s a surprising preponderance of a few particular careers - so you’ll see lots of examples of how people (in exactly your situation!) progress in or towards them.

I am in science and lab tech roles may be open to flexible hours and periods. Usually a case of stuff needs doing but exact times no a huge issue. But you would get nowhere near 25k. Our graduates are on just over 20k.
