It took a while but my DD has finally got really into reading. She has devoured all of the Pamela Butchart and David Walliams books and we're looking for more books now. Any good recommendations? Thanks 😃

My 9year old also enjoyed the Pamela Butchart books. She’s also worked her way through -

Murder Most Unladylike
Anisha Accidental Detective
Justice Jones
Harry Potter
Narnia
There are some James Patterson ones - can’t remember the names

PerrinAybara · 05/03/2023 09:36

Harry Potter
Percy Jackson
Incredible Shrinking Girl books
Beast Quest
Fireborn
The Last Bear
The Moll & Gryff trilogy by Abi Elphinstone

There’s the ‘Roman mysteries / detective’ series by Caroline Lawrence. Think there’s about 17 or 18.

Ruby Redford series by Lauren child - might be a little old for her but good.
percy Jackson ones DD loved.

My DD loves jacqueline wilson books, enid blyton (famous five, secret seven, far away tree etc), diary of a wimpy kid, Alex rider, grimms fairytale. She's now moving on to horror like Alex Bell

LaFemmeDamnee · 05/03/2023 10:02

The Worst Witch books have gone down well with my DD (also a Pamela Butchart fan)

Alargeoneplease89 · 05/03/2023 10:03

Judging by the authors she's read, Katie kirby might be up her street

KnickerlessParsons · 05/03/2023 10:48

The Lemony Snicket books are good. Also The City of Ember.

If you want to introduce her to some classics: Black Beauty, What Katie Did, Little Women

I used to love books by Jacqueline Wilson when I was around that age. The illustrated mum, Bad girls, Sleepover club. They all tackle a social issue aswell in a child friendly way.

Echo Katie Kirby, my daughter has just read her first one and is keen to read more

twinklebutt · 10/03/2023 21:45

Tom Gates books are fab.

Also seen some new books.... Something along the lines of Lotties diary?? You'd have to have a Google.

NoodieRoodie · 10/03/2023 21:49

Echoing a PP Pages and Co, DD9 has devoured them then DS11 (with a stupidly high reading age) has gone through the lot and really enjoyed them
