Does anyone know what the current times are for passport applications? It would be two adult renewals and two new children's applications. Looking at a nearly last minute trip in May but not sure if that's cutting it too fine?!

An update from me. I got a message yesterday to say that the application was approved and today to say it was printed (online application 25th and docs posted the 1st). They will let me know when it is posted.

Two weeks

Thighdentitycrisis · 10/03/2023 20:05

I recently did mine and it took about 2 weeks

itsgood2talk · 10/03/2023 23:39

Less than two weeks for us. Received ours back today

Leeds2 · 10/03/2023 23:48

I sent mine for renewal, by post, on Monday 27 Feb. I paid extra for recorded delivery. Got it back on Weds 8 March. Luckily, all was ok as I had my photo done in Tesco Photo Booth and didn’t get it checked by Post Office! I was kept up to date with what was happening by text. No complaints at all. Indeed, excellent service.

It’s been 4 weeks and I’m still waiting 😫

MisgenderedSwan · 12/03/2023 17:34

Got ours back on Tuesday. 11 days after posting the old documents back and 7 days after they were marked as received. I'm quite impressed with the turn around!

Marchforward · 12/03/2023 17:35

I counter signed my friend’s first child passport and she had the passport delivered 36 hours later.

boboshmobo · 12/03/2023 17:35

I got mine within 2 weeks . My sons is being done now and it's well on its way . It takes longer as you need to get their identity confirmed

Brenna24 · 13/03/2023 19:18

Ours arrived today. 10 days after they received our documents.

Just come home to a letter stating more documents needed after 5 weeks of waiting. I’m fuming. I’ve called twice in that time to ask if they have my documents and not once has that been mentioned 😡

PicturesOfDogs · 15/03/2023 18:33

Around 2/3 weeks for 2 kids renewals.

This website is quite good, it tells you the average waiting time people are experiencing (obviously could be more or less, but this is good to gauge a rough estimate)

Top tip - get the photos done by staff at an approved place, eg Max Spielmann, because they're approved on the spot, instead of risking having your own pics rejected and holding your application up.

It isn't.

But if it is rejected they will redo the photo for free.
DDs got declined due to a bit of red eye that the max spielman photographer must have not noticed.

DP had a right nightmare with his.

Both renewal applications sent off at the same time, mine was straightforward but his old passport was lost so he needed his identity confirmed.

His identity was confirmed before they even received my old passport. On the day they told me mine had been approved (1 week later) he got an email saying they needed more information about the lost passport.

He replied straight away to the email address they told him to send it to with the ref number in the suject box like they asked. Two weeks later he received another email saying they were still waiting for his response. He sent the email again. Two weeks after that (5 weeks since application date) he receives a letter in the post saying he still hasn't responded to the last two emails and if he doesn't respond by x date, they will close the application and he will lose the fee.

Tried to call but they were not much help, I got the impression they don't want to look into it until you've been waiting for 6 weeks since the application was made.

In the end he wrote back as he had a name and department to contact from the letter.

They approved a week after the letter was sent, 7 weeks in total.

My Dc first passport was done with days, but unfortunately the delivery was really bad.

Had Email that passport would be delivered with in 5 days, with tracking number. But unfortunately the company only put the number live when it's out for delivery, and that could be 10 weeks.

So you have no way to check if it's gone astray.

It took about 3 weeks to be delivered. And the tracking number never when live.
