Do you have a five year plan? Is that a thing in real life? That real people do?

If I went back in time to speak to my 2018 self, there's simply no way she would believe the 2023 reality. Too many changes to list, but include big ones like leaving a religion, divorcing, and coming out as lesbian.

I've no intentions of making any drastic changes within the next 5 years, but who knows really. My plans include getting a house in the country and possibly chickens. Ageing gracefully. Potentially more sleep, but this is never a certainty.

Do you have any firm plans you'd like to execute in your life during the next 5 years, or is this merely a terrible interview question and not worth one's time considering?

It was easier when I had 'big' things to achieve like learn to drive, complete OU degree, buy house. Now I've done those, my current 5 year plan is to be mortgage free (technically I am as my parents used inheritance to buy my home but I'm paying them back), to be debt free from house renovations.

I've recently had a career change so my three / four year plan is year 1 learn about the organisation and get my fingers into as many pies as possible to find out which area I want to move in to. Year 2, go on assignment for 18 months to get some line management experience, Year 3-4 go for promotion into a specialist area.

I do a mixture of both. I'm very changable and like freedom so I don't like plans that box me in too much.

No. I maybe have plans for the year but that’s about it and these are not huge life changing plans just maybe things we r doing that year. I can’t really visualise 5 years down the line. Life’s too short to bother. I try to live for now. Sadly my father died very suddenly at a young age so always feel like you don’t know what’s round the corner so don’t worry too much about 5 years down the line. I can understand though if ppl have career, home, kids goals tho ! I’m just looking for me and my family to be healthy, happy and have a safe home
