Its the 1st full day of having a smart meter and little machine thingy that shows what we use
Im trying to get my head round it but find it quite confusing today we've used £3.69 on gas and £4.30 in electric
£7.99 in total.
Whats the average to use ?
We live in a 3 bed- 2 adults 2 kids

You're using the same amount as you used before you just know about it on the day rather than when the bill comew in

Did you ever think about what other people spent before now?

It has no relevance to you, if you can't afford it the only thing to do is cut down your usage

I'm sure you know what to do, we have had energy saving information overload since the prices shot up

HoppingMarchHares · 04/03/2023 20:09

Typically between 70p and £1.50 a day

No I've never thought about what we used before our direct debit went up to 220 but didn't think much of it. This is really making me think more now. I've been turning most things off today!

£10 often

At the moment about £9 a day for both and it's absolutely ridiculous. It's the heating that nails our bills, we have solar panels so tend to use the washing machine and dryer (occasionally) only when the smart meter is active during the midday atm. That will improve with the weather but it's a fucking joke how expensive the heating is. We have it on an hour in the morning and 3 hours at night.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 04/03/2023 20:29

I'm roughly £2.50 combined in a winter day, £2 in the summer. New build flat that rarely gets cold enough to require the heating on, and when it does a 1 hour blast warms it up just fine. I very rarely watch TV, so it's really just standing charge + lighting, cooking, and washing costs.

£1.16 electric £2.48 gas seems to be one of our higher readings. 4 of us, small 2 bed.

But we are still on our fixed tariff due to end this month Confused so it'll go way up I guess??

CornishTiger · 04/03/2023 20:33

Price is irrelevant in these kind of threads as all depends on unit cost and charging charge. What you need is kWh Total for comparison

AlwaysLatte · 04/03/2023 20:43

Around £20 a day (electricity only as we have oil for central heating/hot water). I remember less than a year ago being shocked that it was approaching £10 a day!

How??

cakeorwine · 04/03/2023 20:46

Depends on time of year. Heating varies so much, obviously!

It's the kWh you need to look at.

My standing charge alone is 88p.

I use around £5.50 daily this winter.

nationallampoons · 04/03/2023 20:49

Mine uses roughly £10 electric per day
