Will I grow to love the laminate flooring or do I get rid?

Help me please 😅

Recently moved house. 3 bed bungalow. Was fully refurbished before we bought it. New kitchen, bathroom, windows, boiler, flooring, neutral decor...PERFECT! we have a toddler so somewhere with no work was ideal!

The laminate flooring is destroying me 🤣🙈 dramatic, I know! I’m no clean freak, but OMG how on Earth do you keep it free of crumbs/dust/hair?! 😬 I feel like I spend the day with a brush or hoover in my hand 😳
Now quite clearly with carpet, the crumbs are also there 🤣 but I can’t see them and feel them everytime I walk through the house!!

The benefits are not lost on me - toddlers are messy! He had a sickness bug the week after we moved in and being able to clean up easier was a lifesaver!

But seriously, the crumbs 😳 am I missing some amazing crumb repellent that I should be using?! 🤣 or do I just give up now and admit that the laminate life isn’t for me?! 🙈

Everyone uses a plate and has meals at the table. Sloppy to be walking around dribbling biscuit crumbs.

We had to rip up all the carpets as soon as we moved in and had laminate fitted all downstairs.

I love it! We're a family of spillers and it's so much easier to wipe up yet another drink than carpet. We also have 4 cats so it's great to easily clean up cat sick and animal blood from their presents.

I have a robot vacuum and a long handled dustpan and brush so crumbs aren't too much of an issue.

We had similar at our old house and it was amazing when the DCs were potty training, it made life so much easier.

I would never have carpet downstairs, it's just feels too grubby.

Grow to love it. I guarantee carpet has more filth and dust in it.

Or put a rug down but seriously hard flooring with kids is great. You can actually clean it properly

We have luxury vinyl planks downstairs with a toddler, preschooler and husband who is constantly in and out of the garden. I hate carpet but also hate crumbs, so have one of those long handled dustpan and brushes….absolute game changer. I just sweep crumbs up as they occur.

I have laminate through most of the ground floor, carpet in the hallway, stairs and bedrooms upstairs. The laminate is easy, 10 minutes to sweep and run a mop round and spills are easily cleaned. I cleaned the carpets recently and oh my god the colour of the water - at least with laminate you can see and clean the dirt, carpets catch a huge amount of crumbs and dirt hidden in the pile.

We have two robot cleaners. Cheap ones, about £130/50 from Amazon.

The kitchen is done at night time and the bedrooms during the day when everyone is out and about. With a smart plug you can programme them to come on automatically at suitable times.

Carpets with animals if you are even flirting with the idea are a pita.

Love the floor!

Robot hoovers are great, ours is programmed to come on when the toddler isn’t on the prowl so mornings when we’re doing the school run and evening once he’s bed. Then the mopping one then does it’s shift during afternoon nap time.

We have eufy robot vacuum , it’s about 4 years old so nothing fancy. It still comes on every morning at 7am then sends itself ‘home’ after 40 ish mins. It’s ideal as we usually wake around 7am and then spend next 30-40 mins upstairs still showering, everyone changed etc. So we aren’t in it’s way.
Toddler fine with it though and likes being ally to empty it, and bonus is he tidied his toys happily before bed so they don’t get ‘eaten’

Ok, I’m hearing you all 👍🏻 I have the long handled brush etc already and my trusty Shark which is working overtime 😅 I’ll have a look into the robot vacuum 😊
