Coaching when pregnant!

Hi ladies, I'm a mum of three boys and a soon to be qualified life coach.
I would love to coach women around pregnancy, birth and first year...I want to help them overcome their fears, limiting beliefs, to feel more empowered and positive about the process and to trust themselves and their bodies that they can do it.
Coaching isn't counselling, coaching has been defined in many ways. The essence of coaching is:
To help a person change in the way they wish and helping them go in the direction they want to go.
Coaching supports a person at every level in becoming who they want to be.
Coaching builds awareness empowers choice and leads to change.

My question is, would this kind of support be something that would be useful or would it just be another thing to do on the ever growing list that pregnant women often have?
I'd appreciate any thoughts or feedback ❤

Personally it wouldn't be my cup of tea at all, I'm afraid. In my social circles, coaching almost seems to be a pyramid scheme - people who get coaching invariably decide to become coaches themselves.

The coaching you describe sounds unwise and naive. You allege that women should trust their bodies and believe in their ability to give birth, but in settings with little/no medical care, maternal and infant mortality rates are significant. Childbirth is an inherently risky process, and even in the UK with good medical care women and children sometimes suffer harm. A degree of anxiety is fairly healthy and appropriate.

No I think this is too narrow. I agree with the previous poster. It sounds naive and airy fairy and labelling. Have you any life experience.

Absolutely no way. A con scheme preying on those who feel vulnerable. Interested to know what “qualifications” you have.

Life Coaching tbh is just a bit of a woo con but some people want to spend money on it - around pregnancy though I would seriously think about insurance as if any of you advice led to issues with mum or baby you would be in big trouble

What you're suggesting offering sounds a lot like hypnobirthing. And if I were looking for a hypnobirthing instructor, I would be looking to do it with a currently or recently employee midwife. If I were in need of that kind of support I'm afraid I certainly wouldn't consider going for someone with zero qualifications and experience.

What a load of dangerous bullshit trying to con vulnerable pregnant women out of their money.

Giving birth is not about “breathing” and “trusting your body”. It is a medical process and no amount of “trusting your body” is going to help if something goes wrong.
