Please don't go off on a police bashing (or supporting) tangent. We all know it's not all police officers, but it's too many and there is a problem with the ingrained culture. 800 under investigation in the Met alone is something even they are not trying to say is insignificant.
We all need a functioning police force that has public confidence and we don't have that currently, so what needs to be done? What has been done already?
e.g has there been any training around unconscious bias? Who's delivering that? Internal or external?
In schools it's a criminal offence not to report suspected wrongdoing by colleagues. Should police officers be held to the same standards?
What's happening about reporting and recording low level concerns? Things like use of inappropriate language, or dodgy searches on Google, minor complaints against an officer, which may not be the biggest issue as a one off, but are when there's a pattern, demonstrating an underlying attitude.
How are officers responding to all this? Is it a defensive reaction or a desire to see things improve?
What can people in the know tell us about how things are changing and what would you like to see done?
